ogauge5
Hello all, I seem to be having the texture loading issue where high res textures will not load. I just got the game, installed a bunch of texture mods. Installed enb .291 with enb boost memory tweak enabled under enb local ini. Also have fallout 4 configurator. I also have shadow boost and f4se installed. I use f4se loader to launch the game and was wondering if it conflicted with the enb, though the enb loads. I have tried various tweaks to get it to work such as the enb boost force memory, the mip map tweak, and the configurator degrade/upgrade texture distance tweak. None of it seems to work. System specsWindows 7Nvidia 780 gtx sliIntel 4770k16 gigs 1600 mhz ramssd on which fallout 4 is installedNvidia drivers 361.75- I believe sli is running as both cards usage changes during the game. This is very frustrating and I am assuming it is due to 3 gigs vram? The game shows it just over 3 gigs vram right before the loading screen ends. Then when the game actually loads the vram usage decreases to between 2 and 2.5. Hasn't gotten near three in game yet but certain vanilla res textures do not load no matter what, such as the vault 111 platform, and house architecture that I have not replaced. The higher res texture mod packs DO appear to be loading, though unsure if all of them are loading in full detail. None have seemed blurry though, only the vanilla textures I haven't replaced.. All settings are ultra except god rays and ssao instead of hbao. The game seems to usually run 60 fps with dips into 40s and then goes back up to 60s. Also accidentally set the fallout cpu high priority tweak in configurator. Hoping that is not the reason, as I do not know how to undo the registry edit. Is their no solution for me? I mean is it not possible to run higher res texture packs and have the vanilla higher res textures load with 3 gb vram? Has anyone encountered the same issue and have any suggestions. I just cannot stand the blurry textures. Killing it for me. I have seen that others have gotten it to work with the enb boost memory patch or mipmap or texture degrade/upgrade distance tweaks, but not of these work for me. I have never seen this in a bethesda game before and almost wonder if it is a purposeful feature to keep fps up. Please if anyone went through this and found solutions, please let me know. MrNiceGuy25x
Same problem here. Also noticed this after ENB .291 install. Anybody have any idea how to fix this?
jones177
Hi The terrain textures in this game look perfect at 4k. Ok at 1440 & not so good at 1080. The difference is so stark that I would not want to play this game at all at less than 4k. The vanilla textures are mostly 2k so they should look good at all popular resolutions but they don't. Texture handling is the issue with this game so look for tweaks. I used one for a while but the last update fixed the issue. This is the only game I play at 4k & I do it with an old i7 2600 & a 980 ti (59fps average). Most games I play at 1440 & because of low frame rate at 4k. All the games that I have played recently look about the same at 1440 & 4k(mesh/texture design) except this one. My maximum vram usage was 3.8gbs with the vanilla textures. I would not like to texture mod this game with less than 4gbs vram. I would expect a frame rate hit. I don't know what Bethesda is thinking, but I do know that their quality control is just sad compared to studios like CD Projekt RED & their ability to react to an issue like this is even sadder. In years to come when 4k is the norm this will be a great game to revisit. It looks beyond belief good, but only at 4k. Later
Longcrossing
Thanks @Darth Ligerius ! You gave me the right clue to fix this on my setup. I recently tested out 20 or so different ENB / Reshaders for FO4, part of this testing involved upgrading the ENBoost setup on one of the contenders from ENB .283 to ENB .291.I just changed it back from newer to older and voila! my texture detail has returned! Cheers<update> oops, I was hasty in my conclusion. It was the change that fixed the textures but I focused on the wrong aspect. It was NOT due to the ENB version but the settings within my enblocal.ini file. I previously raised the setting VideoMemorySizeMb too high (after apparently being mislead by the VRAM test process). Anyway, when I dropped my VideoMemorySizeMb setting back to the original value I'd manually calculated, textures looked great again. NOTE that the bad LOD, for me was in most metals, like the details on the power armor frame for example. Also, while my rig is not astounding, it is reasonably good. Recent 2GB nVidia card, etc... That did it for me (after hours of searching/testing), hopefully the info will be of help others... Edited April 19, 2016 by Longcrossing
laresgod
I can confirm that the value in memorysize in enblocal.ini is important. Sometimes you need to try and tweak the value much lower than theoretical values: I have a 3GB VRAM graphic card (970 GTX) + 16 GB ram, OS takes 4GB. I should be able to go up to 14GB in memorysize. But after trial and error, my good value for crisp textures is 8000 (even at 10000 I see blurry textures). JimmyRJump
Try ENB version 0.283. Newer releases don't work for me and give all kinds of visual glitches.
