jlehm0005
I am fairly new to "modding" games, that is adding mods that others have created. I am IT but not a programmer and frankly not able to program. But I wanted to ask what would be the best list of "mods" to start with? I have added mods to my TES IV but it was more a look at everything and say that looks cool, so I am hoping one of the "smart ones" around here could give me a done and dirty list (in order) of what they think I should add. (Note: I have "beat" Fallout 3 on X-Box numerous times, this is the first on the pc so I wanted to add to the experience) Thank you
caramellcube
I'd recommend Cube Experimental, although with the note that at the end of the mod it might be best to just take the custom power fist and leave the other reward weapons as they're massively overpowered. Also if you play it along with Fallout Wanderer's edition you'll have to turn off the requirements to eat and drink because it'll take a while to get through the cube. Aside from these issues, it's a massive self-contained quest with varied environments and challenges, and quality that rivals that of the official DLCs. BlackRampage
Well, that strongly depends on your own tastes doesn't it? Also, what kind of mods are you looking for?I could easily recommend well over a hundred mods here, or even post my entire load order, but most of those are suited to my tastes alone. Nevertheless, I suppose you could have a look over here: http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/13/10-essential-fallout-3-mods/ Otherwise you can also have a look at the "top 100" FO3 mods over here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/top/ Also, since Cube experimental is being recommended by caramellcube, I suppose I might as well take the opportunity to recommend my own favorite quest mods here: A Quest for Heaven by Firelady:Ep 1: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10208Ep 2: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12887Ep 3: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15488 A Note Easily Missed by PuceMoose is definitely worthy of giving a try:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4730 Also, since you're fairly new to this, be sure to get the following 2 essential tools before installing mods:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 Have fun! Edit: Forgot to add a link. :whistling: Edited June 16, 2011 by BlackRampage
Moraelin
Aye, what is "best" depends on your own tastes. Have a look through the download section and decide for yourself. I mean, some people like more challenge, some like less challenge, some people want to shoot lots of stuff (AWOP and IWS are good for that), some like to talk more and shoot less, some like dirty and rusty stuff, some of us like shiny new stuff, some like in-character equipment, some of us thing that the more insane the better, etc. It's hard to recommend the best for someone else. jlehm0005
Thank you for the input. As far as my likes, well I have "beaten" Fallout 3 on the X-box several times so I started on the PC because of the ability to add (FO3 and TES are pretty much the only games I play, have "modded my TES IV somewhat (alittle adult, new quest, new weapons), like the 1st person MORPG games) so not only am I looking for new stuff but "interesting " stuff", pretty much I am open to anything. I have looked at the "Wanderer" mod and I am really concidering that. I also want to "improve" the basics with maybe alittle adult improvement (eye candy so to say) too. Understand I work 45-50 hours a week, put in another 5-10 to organizations I belong to, and then I have children that play sports so my game is my escape when i get to play. Once again thank you, also my hats off to those that make these mods.
BlackRampage
If it's "eye candy" you want, I'll be glad to provide. Try these:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4280http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6073 Males can't stay behind of course:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4719 Of course, depending on your tastes, when you have mods like the above, something like this is soon to follow:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8570 (adult only of course)
