early version of the new world space, still need to add the buildings from the first Angel Valley but its gettin there

for those who have never tried to generate lod in a new world space, you should try it, its fun.........NOT!

world spaces are measured in chunks and angel valley has 39 chunks which is big but not huge, it took my computer 8 hours to generate the terrain meshes and the geck can crash duing this time and there is no way to tell if it has without monitering your cpu usage in the process manager, if you have a large world space like 60 or 90 chunks it can take as long as 2 to 3 weeks.

no joke thats from the wiki.

oops I got that count wrong its more like a thousand chunks takes a couple weeks.

wow thats a crap load a chunks

so what't the ETA on all this?

Gonna have any optional plugins? or all grouped together as one thing?

For replayability, have some 'pre-disabled' enemies about that trigger with a Random Chance script so that each time you save/reload or play though the mod again, you never relaly know WHAT to expect becuase the encounters will be wildly random! you can even do that with TRAPS i think that would be great. Have some traps disabled but have random chance to enable when you enter the cell/area :)

Then we really cannot predict things and the stuff will be even more fun to go through again.

Unsure of the ETA now. Interiors and gameplay/balance issues are 98% complete. It's so much fun I could hardly stop playing yesterday.

However the new Worldspce is Huuuuuge. Prob the size of Point Lookout at least (including water). Namesh alone could take days so there is a lot of work to be done yet and new tests with the new worldspace. I'd like to say next week but I can't say for sure, maybe a few weeks depending on whether or not we need to add any more areas.

No plugins planned yet - it's all going into the main file (though will require Monster Mod as a master).

Heres a bit more info in the meantime:

Here's some of the other Characters who lived (live?) there before the Robots and Aliens showed up:

Stain:

2nd in command of the Stink-Fiends, a local Raider gang. Has written a couple of notes.

Ashburn

Stink-Fiends most intelligent member. Leaves several notes about detailing the events upto and beyond the Aliens escaping.

Virgil:

Great Khan group leader and all around bad-speller. Leaves notes about for the benefit of any who can find and read them.

Layla:

Great Khan medic and the most literate of thier group. She tries to write as much about the new threats as possible to help other Khans.

Ezee:

Head of the Great Khan task-force that set out from Red Rock to rescue thier group trapped in the Valley.

Colonel Finton:

NCR Special Forces operative sent to investigae as part of a squad of 8 specialists. Several parts of his log can be found.

Emma:

Civilian who owns a small clothes store in a converted room in the Valley. She keeps a diary on her terminal detailing many important events.

New Ammo Variants:

Currently 6 new Ammo variants added. Find the recipie (and enough Nanobots) and create some serious firepower:

- 9mm Ceramic Inferno (Ceramic bullets with a superheated core)

- .44 Guided Tumbler (Alter direction upon impact)

- .5mm Glass (Super-dense spiked glass rounds)

- 10mm Diamond Caseless (Bang & Bling)

- 12.7mm Intelligent Tracking System (Use from a distance for a massive extra critical chance)

- .308 Anti-Matter (The ultimate bullet. Implodes matter, kills anything or at least messes it up very badly).

I'll dig out a few more teaser notes too in a min.

SY'S LOG PART 3:

Today I decided to get out and socialise more with my new companions. The room next door houses anyone who wants it and they often hold all night ‘sessions’ in there. According to Mary this mostly involves taking home-made Jet and listening to some new music called ‘Freetech’ that is being broadcast from somewhere in the local region. I’m not overly concerned as these rooms seem pretty soundproof for the most part.

The room next door to that houses all the young ‘uns. By the sound of it there’s four of them but the oldest, Kevin, was not about anywhere. By the sound of it he has a bad habit of stealing the others toys. I’ll have to have a word with him at some point. The others adults don’t seem interested. No one really knows him, apparently he just wandered in some day aged about twelve. To this day no-one knows how he made it past all the Deathclaws.

Beyond that there’s the Robinson’s. A friendly enough family of four who somehow manage to share the same space despite the fact that each conversation there seems to end up in a full out vitriolic family argument. Luckily it seems to be some kind of in-joke and their constant mid-row attempts to persuade me of this did get quite funny after a while.

The Militia all share the main Barracks. They were all very talkative. They don’t see much action but they do at least have access to extensive training facilities and weaponry, though I’m informed that ammo is in very sparse supply to such an extent that all the troops here are trained to collect their fired cases for reloading.

There are a couple of Gunsmiths about who know their way around a reloading bench. I met one, Vaz who was very pleased to meet me. I could tell he had not been around many women recently, though he fell just short of overbearing. Apparently he’s been in charge of the operation to unlock the main Armory, though his days are mostly spent at the reloading bench or assigning weapons for the civilians to use on the range. His seemingly mute assistant, Simms takes care of the computers.

I can see why the operations have failed so far, though I fear even my abilities may be stretched beyond capacity here. Firstly the whole problem looks like it’s deep-rooted in a mechanical failure and to make matters worse the residents seem to rely more on the knowledge of their forefathers and the hypotheses of the scientists who worked here than they do on any kind of actual knowledge about technology. Many even seem under the impression that the electricity itself is ‘alive’ and a sentient entity in itself. There’s heaps of info on the mainframes about uploading actual human consciousness onto a permanent virtual world that can be controlled from within. Apparently after the bombs were launched many scientists here actually managed to upload their consciousnesses onto some kind of super-mainframe housed somewhere in the building. The residents here seem to have twisted this information to such an extent that they believe that these scientists are actually living in the wires and are governing their actions by manipulating the ‘electronics’ in the airwaves around them.

Vaz at least was sceptical, having read enough manuals on repair and weapons alone to give him a broad and accurate enough summary of the history of humanity to remain relatively sane. I asked him what Burton’s views were on the whole deal and he said that Burton believes his long dead very great grand-father is living in the wires, guiding him, though as we both agreed, if that were the case then why would the dead old guy not just open the doors for him?

Apparently the whole deal drove Burton’s father mad too.

Anyway, getting tired. I can only type my private thoughts while Mary is asleep. She did not seem to mind once I explained to her what insomnia was. I told her she has actually been a big part of my therapy and living with her has helped no end. She was pleased by this. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to do more investigating tomorrow.

EMMA'S DIARY PART 2

There was a big explosion nearby. The blast messed our home up pretty bad but at least it’s still standing. Devlin went up onto the cliffs to check it out and says that there is some kind of spacecraft that has crash landed nearby. Rook ordered that we re-enforce the barricades and prepare for the worst. There’s been no word from the Fort for over a week now. We only have twelve of us to defend the place.

Rook and Devlin are our best soldiers and Mickey and Erica are both good scavs but apart from that we have no other trained military. Even Rook was a medic rather than a soldier and Erica's chem withdrawls are not gonna be helping matters. Big Bill says he can handle a shotgun but I have never seen him on a hunting mission. He spends all his time with his two girlfriends, Claudia and Tory, both of whom seem eager to help but look to be as inexperienced as me. Then there’s Maisy, a teenager who never really got over loosing her brother Sammy to the Raiders. Finally there’s Walter who seems more interested in protecting his own diner than any of us. That just leaves the Petersons who are too old to be of any use in a fight.

I’m gonna go and help out with the tidy operation. I don’t know what else to do right now.

COLONEL FINTON'S LOG PART 3:

Lost two Heavy Troopers in the caves. The beasts took us by surprise. Damn things leapt on us from a cliff face. Must have been some kind of Aliens. They seem to walk upright most of the time and are armoured by some kind of toughened exo-skeleton. They have big elongated heads and a razor sharp tail that nearly severed Wiezerbowski’s head. Only Finn, Hunter, Crowe and myself left now. How these things built a ship is beyond me. Given we have already seen several creature variants around here already (including one that was almost entirely a head with legs) I am beginning to suspect there must be a bigger threat here. The large number of dead robots we have encountered so far would definitely support this. Robots like none I have ever seen before. Unlike our usual NCR bots, these robots all walk upright and look like they can use weapons and even cover tactically.

I heard reports of similar robots out by the Rocky Mountains. Apparently they had some kind of government Vault out there where the robots where coming from. The BOS nuked the place if I remember right. I have never seen anything like them myself. They must have come here tracking the ship, either that or they arrived on the ship too - no doubt guarding the aliens, though why I have no idea. Crowe suggested maybe this was some kind of flying Alien zoo. I can’t think of any better theories.
