ZurinArctus85
Hi. I've been a member of this site for a while. Even though this account is new I actually had an account from 2002 that I lost all info on. Then I signed up again in 2011 (i think) and the account has since been closed because of a 3 year absence. I'm not here on my account, so to speak. I'm here about my sister. I talked to her and she said it would be good to give it a week or so before I attempted to help. My sister, known here as 536861646f57, has quite a few social issues. She doesn't really know how to act online and often speaks her mind. I'm sitting next to her right now, so she knows what I'm doing. Anyway, she got banned for an "insulting" signature and I wanted to formally apologise for her behavior. She tells me that she has it on other forums and the moderators think it's hilarious, so she thought she'd put it here. Apparently satire does not sit well here, nor does sarcasm. I wish to inform you that her intent was not to insult anyone at all. She was merely trying to have a funny/witty/amusing/unique signature. She doesn't know English as well as I do and tends to overanticipate people's reactions. I also understand that not everybody has the same sense of humor, which is something that she's working on. I am requesting that you un-ban her, please. Since she got banned she's surprisingly depressed. She loves modding, and I hardly get to see her when she's not playing Skyrim or modding Skyrim. I've been downloading mods for her, I personally do not own a copy of Skyrim for PC anymore, my Steam account was hacked ages ago so I just got a PS3 on Amazon. She just said, "Why did the console peasant cross the road?" I looked at her. "To render the buildings on the other side." Whatever. Anyway, I hope you accept my apology on her behalf. We skyped the day she got banned and she was extremely upset. She loves to share her creations with others. Please unban her, this site means quite a lot to her. I'm going to let her say a few things. Hi, this is Jane. I'm really really really sorry I offended anyone, I didn't mean to. Like my brother said, I thought it was going to be funny and the moderators would think it was amusing. I really didn't think anyone would get upset over it. The Internet is full of memes like that so I thought it was going to be ok. Thanks for your understanding.
Deleted1205226User
Hello, the way of doing this is explained here : http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/502787-i-got-banned/ Good luck!
ZurinArctus85
She's already appealed for a separate issue. The forum signature thing is an entirely different situation from my understanding, since personal offense was taken at a point where she belives none should have been. I cannot directly comment on the situation. "Don't shoot the messenger". It's certainly not multiple accounts, since I'm her brother and on a totally different computer. My computer chokes on Skyrim at minimum settings so it'd be pointless. And I should also ask, could she send me her files via e-mail and I could upload them? Surely that doesnt count towards multiple account abuse. And reading through the link you posted, I asked if she got any strikes before she was banned. She says there were absolutely no warnings whatsoever, but after reading through some more rules it says that a user can be banned without warning. I don't see the point in having a warning system if it's not going to be used. How is she supposed to know to correct a behavior when nobody tells her it's wrong? It makes no sense. If nobody tells a child that shooting and killing people is against the law, they might grow up and randomly find themselves slapped in irons upon finding out the truth. She also told me that the first time she was banned there was no warning - even though warnings have been issued to other users for the same infraction such as what took place here, here, and here. And even then, the whole thing was a total accident. She was, non scientes, not at fault. Edited April 5, 2016 by ZurinArctus85
Dark0ne
In case you're wondering, the signature she put up after being unbanned was this one: Yeah. She can stay out.
ZurinArctus85
Oh, I'm completely aware. She showed me herself, and I thought it was pretty damn funny. No offense at all, but you do know what irony is, right?I'm actually laughing harder than I should at that picture. The kid's expression is priceless, I wish I knew where his portrait came from.Perhaps I should post a poll: Offensive?Funny?Don't care? You cannot vote because this poll has not been posted yet. Oh, and it's the very first image that shows up when you search Google for "forum moderator memes", and Google sorts images most often by popularity (among other things according to search history). Look, Robin Scott, Site Owner, I'm not sure if you grew up in the States or the UK or some depraved third world country, but have you ever heard the phrase "three strikes"? It's wildly popular among English speakers, used to denominate a few things, the first being that 3 is a nice symmetrical number that humans, throughout history have taken an obsession over (not to mention multiple mathematical studies revolving around how to use the number to predict the future), but two, to also indicate a fair and honest amount of chances to give somebody before all trust is taken away indefinitely. People make mistakes. That's what the "warnings" feature of this forum is for. According to..oh, let's say 22,000 (maybe a few more) banned members that aren't spambots or complete a-holes, a good 68% were issued a formal warning, with 13.5% issued an informal warning. My sister, for whatever completely biased personal reason, was not among those given warnings. I'm not sure if you're aware of the corruption of this site's moral integrity over the last, say 15 years, but it's akin to how a stable, honest government loses interest in the overall well-being of its people over extended periods of reform and change. Three quarters of a million dollars to run the Nexus? May I suggest switching to alternative energy or getting fifth gen i3 processors instead of dual socketing Xeons in your servers? the 5th-gen i3 has a much lower TDP to computing efficiency ratio than any Xeon, and could cut operating costs in half. Dark0ne
You're jumping all over the place, are you OK? First you're talking about moderating, then you're inanely talking about swapping out server processors with desktop processors as though it has any relevance to the original point of your post. It seems like some poorly conceived ad hominem attack to me. If you want to talk ad hominems; someone making a new account to defend another account being banned....there's something fishy there, huh? You've had an account since 2002, yet the first accounts weren't made until July 2003.... Alrighty then... If you honestly think it's OK to post up a disparaging image about moderators immediately after you've been unbanned from the site then you need to reevaluate what is and isn't acceptable. For us, it's disrespectful and unacceptable. Anyone who's anyone (and especially someone who's been on these forums a whole year more than the forums have even existed...) would know none of us would like or appreciate such a deliberate attempt to disparage the moderation team. The unban request is denied, and this discussion is now pointless, you having shown yourself to be fundamentally misaligned with any concept of respect or decency when dealing with the moderation team. I think it's pretty safe to assume you are, in fact, the user who was banned in the first place. Have a great day.
