No mods working after Windows reinstall

Hi there,

first off, please forgive me if the question has been answered already, I couldn't find anything.

I recently downgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 7 due to frequent problems. Before this I was running Fallout 4 with a couple of mods, managed by NMM.

Fallout 4 is version 1.5.141.0.0 (Survival Beta). I recreated the same settings, using G:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Fallout4\Mods as my virtual install folder. Fallout 4 is located in G:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4

After the change in NMM, I removed all mods and reinstalled them from the mainpage and activated them again. Now though when I launch Fallout 4 via NMM, the game tells me that the save relies on content that is no longer present (see screenshot attached) and will crash when trying to load anyway. All mods listed are installed and activated in NMM. I even tried deleting and reinstalling some, to no avail.

Since I am in many ways a newb when it comes to modding and NMM, I hope there is an easy solution that I just couldn't find and I'm thankful in advance for any tips.

Regards

Hello there, a couple things comes to mind:

  1. You are saying you run the survival beta, are you sure the mod are compatible with the survival beta? (I'm not a modder, but this might be the culprit)
  2. Are the mods still compatible with 1.5 of FO4? I guess they where working on 1.5 before right?
  3. And if you just 'downgraded' Windows OS from 10 to 7 (If you can do that..?), that might give you issues for sure.

Seems strange you would get issues using Win 10 though, and if you had issues before and went the way to downgrade I am sure you have or have some issues with the stability with your system?

Win 10 should by now work flawlessly on most systems TB, but you might have other reasons for doing so.

Just my two cents here, far from any expert beyond that, but I thought I would try to see it with fresh eyes..

Good luck though!

Thanks for the reply. I changed back to the non-beta version and it crashed on the first try (but I hadn't reinstalled all mods). After reinstalling all mods, it actually works again. So thumbsup.gif

Wait, doesn't survival mode disable mods?

I wasn't playing survival mode, I just had the beta version that includes survival mode. I was trying to play normal mode with that beta

Okay. Personally I havent' played it so I don't know the interface. Now it depends on what you mean by "normal mode" now if you mean that you downloaded and installed the survival beta and the only difference is that you don't have survival mode enabled through the in-game difficulty menu then that doesn't matter. The survival mode is then hard-coded and its effects are in play even if you don't choose it.

OR if the mode gave you a custom executable that you launch INSTEAD of the typical fallout4.exe/launcher or fallout4.exe launched through NMM then it won't work because NMM won't interface with it. There is a hidden load order menu that you could try.

The only way that it shouldn't matter is if you got an update WITHOUT any survival mode files
