I Hope Bethesda Sees This

There is going to be a random encounters system in Skyrim.

 

It would be awesome if you were walking on a path in the woods and two mountain lions came out of no wheres in an all out brawl, or a mountain lion chasing a deer, or just two or more animals fighting. You could choose to save the prey or just watch. There could be two animals fighting over one meal. It would be amazing to see two animals coming out of no wheres in the woods throwing each other around and fighting. The atmosphere would be amazing.

 

Maybe a merchant or a traveler being attacked by a gang of bandits where you could save them would be amazing too.

I agree that it would be interesting for the animals to actually hunt, or fight each other, but it's a one-in-a-million chance Bethesda will actually see your topic, sorry to burst your bubble.

Nothing that cant be fixed by mods :thumbsup:

It's been ages since I had oblivion installed, but I remember I had one particular mod installed that did 3 things:

1) add more races to the wildlife

2) increase the number of them where they travelled in packs

3)and yes, make them fight eachother if they encountered different species

And consoles might have mod support! I love how Bethesda actually thinks about their community and allows them to do whats funnest for them.

In the sample game play they showed off at E3, you can see a wolf start chasing a rabbit .. not quite the mountain lion vs deer battle, but you might want to save the rabbit

In vanilla Oblivion there are multiple factions set up for just this kind of encounter, such as Prey and Creature. Creature faction contains wolves, who have a disposition decrease towards the Prey faction which contained deer. However, seeing the two actually fight was rare due to the circumstances that had to be met for them to meet.

Yes, they said it would support modding, but it probably will take 6months+ for them to even announce it's coming.

Like Todd said they don't even have it written down on paper yet how their going to figure it out.

So yes, be excited for it but don't excited because it wont be in the near-future, unless their keeping it from us, either way.

Myself, I don't have a good PC to run on Skyrim, so personally I play on Xbox and I REALLY hope they do some modding on the Xbox.

who's they? bethesda? because its not up to them, its up to Microsoft and them have a policy against free DLC on xbox live servers. MS will see mods as free DLC and will reject the idea.
