wolfywolfy
Hi. In a nutshell, the game loads fine with these mods. I make the character, I meet Uriel, and I start the escape. But then the Mythic Dawn shows up, I get ready for combat, and boom, game crash. Here's my load order as sorted by BOSS. Also have the Minimap mod, Blockhead, OBSE, Menuque (afaik I installed it correctly) and Darnified. If I can't solve this issue I will sadly have to remove all traces of mods from Oblivion and simply play without them. I find it extremely ironic that it's a lot harder to install mods in Oblivion than in Skyrim. Striker879
A s always, the simplest way to troubleshoot is to uninstall all mods except the DLCs and get the game running properly. Then add one mod at a time and test thoroughly in between. I suggest running through the entire tutorial with just the DLCs and unofficial patches. When you get to the sewer exit make a save before exiting. Then exit the sewer and make sure the game is running well (the Imperial City Market District makes a good spot to head to see how well your computer handles the game). If all is well start adding your mods one at a time and test using either that before exiting the sewer save or one that you made just outside the sewer. When you add a single mod to a working install and then run into problems it's trivial to figure out where to start troubleshooting.
wolfywolfy
...you know what, f*#@ this. Thanks for the help, man, but I give up. I'm doing one final fresh install and I will not use mods for the foreseeable future. Leave the modding to Skyrim. I'll just settle for the unofficial patches and maybe Darnified and the minimap- if only because they're useful.
ironbender800
Oblivion is much older and not really supported much. Nowhere near as much as skyrim. Thats why its harder to mod. But with a little patience and research it can be modded successfully. I recently started playing it due to boredom of skyrim. Try this guide for starters but keep in mind its NOT up to date. But will give a good baseline. Use Wrye Bash as your Mod Manager. http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Hishutup/OblivionGuide Also as with skyrim dont install 50 mods at once. Install a few and then test. Much easier to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.
