khatmar
I wanted to ask whether someone is still working on their Midwest Power Armor? TeamBacon
I wanted to ask whether someone is still working on their Midwest Power Armor? I freaking loved it ever since playing fallout tactics and finding this thread got me excited like crazy! Jonathanprice and I are working on tons of Fallout Tactics stuff, but it will not be available before the Creation Kit is released, that's for sure. If you keep calling it the 'Midwest Power Armor' you might no get it at all though...
khatmar
Thats fantastic news! :) Thank you for the fast reply. And umm ok. What would you call it? Power armor from fallout tactics/brotherhood of steel? As far as I remember there was no official name for it in the game. It was just "power armor" and "advanced power armor", which was the slightly pale version of the regular "power armor" if I recall correctly. Wunderbot
As for the cape, there's actually a unused file in the vanilla game that implies Maxson was going to wear a similar short cape. So it shouldn't really be an issue.
TeamBacon
Thats fantastic news! Thank you for the fast reply. And umm ok. What would you call it? Power armor from fallout tactics/brotherhood of steel? As far as I remember there was no official name for it in the game. It was just "power armor" and "advanced power armor", which was the slightly pale version of the regular "power armor" if I recall correctly. It is the 'Fallout Tactics Armor'... I thought that was apparent from the fact that it was armor and it was from Fallout Tactics. I personally call it the U-66, as it is the spiritual predecessor of the U-51 prototype designed by the Navy to match the Army's T-51. The U-51 was supposed to be a 'sea to land' attack armor used by the Navy's elite, however the politicians decided it was a silly idea to use a power armor underwater, so they cut the funding. The remaining U-51 armors ended up in the 'Great Lakes Navy Academy' stashed in a back closet to be used as an occasional training tool for new recruits. (All Navy personnel go through Chicago for boot camp, at least in the real world they do.) This is where General Barnakey and the Minority Faction of the Brotherhood discovered them shortly after the crash in Chicago. They are clearly weaker than their T-51 counterparts, but these armors were pretty much brand new as opposed to the beaten up and tattered armors they brought with them from California. The new look also became quite popular with the Minority Faction as it was a way to rebel against the look of their western brothers that sent them out on this suicide mission. The U-66 was developed by a private sector company before the bombs fell. This is why it looks less like your typical US Military power armor and is using technology that doesn't appear again until much later when the Enclave resurfaces post war and starts building power armors. The U-66 is going to be the version I make that is as accurate to the Fallout Tactics design as possible, looking very non-US Military like and far too Enclave for my taste. I personally like the design, but not as a Brotherhood armor, but Jonathanprice talked me into finishing it up anyways. The U-51 is our personal interpretation of what the Fallout Tactics armor should have looked like, and is very much inspired by the armor from that game, but also uses elements traditionally found in the Brotherhood of Steel in every other Fallout game. Tactics pretty much goes off in its own direction with its art style, and even the art director claimed that he regretted going so far away from the retro-futuristic feel that makes Fallout so charming. The remains of the Midwestern Chapter will have a mix of T-51, U-51, and U-66 armors. In my particular story, however, there is only one U-66 armor that you will have to collect the pieces as you complete my short stories if you want to complete the whole set of armor. The U-51 will be easier to acquire. The first thing I want to finish however is the Fallout Tactics 'humanoid robot' from the Calculator army. ReasoningFaun
The armor's helmet kinda remind me of predator from alien vs predator, and that would look cool.
rwsody
It looks cool, but why a cape is needed on a power armor? Because it's BoS... See what I did there... Because it's Brotherhood of Steel and also it's cool... I'm super clever.

NocteVagus
-snip- The first thing I want to finish however is the Fallout Tactics 'humanoid robot' from the Calculator army. | First off, thank you for wonderfully detailed bit of lore on the U-51 and 66. I've always been fascinated by Tatics so finding someone who's so knowledgeable on the subject is wonderful. That being said, I'm highly looking forward to you and johnathanprice's creations. Will the HR be builtable at the Robot Workbench? Will you be making the Hoverbot as well? |

Will the HR be builtable at the Robot Workbench? Will you be making the Hoverbot as well? | Cal functions more like a human companion, so I don't think he will be compatible with the Automatron content. I also stray away from using DLC in my mod, so that people who haven't bought the DLC yet can still play my mod. He will however have plenty of his own customization going on. The only other robot I am considering is the Pacification robot. I will also be doing some basic Reaver stuff, but I'm not going to go all out on that. I have to spend more time on Gammorin. Though the name comes from Fallout Tactics, most of his story is really a throw back to Fallout 1 and 'The Unity'. The 4th Gammorin is more along the lines of Lou Tenant, The Master's Lieutenant, in Fallout 1. I don't have any plans of bringing the Calculator back, but talk about the Calculator is actually one of the major clues that leads you to eventually discovering the culprit for the murder mystery short story in my mod. But that is all the information I want to make public at the moment. PM me if you want to know more, because I have over 400 pages of stuff written that I am currently putting into the Creation Kit. I just don't want a lot of public attention until I actually have a lot of stuff to show.
