Fallout New Vegas Menu Bug

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I've run into a problem with my favorite video game of all time, FNV. I play the game a whole lot, and have modded it using Nexus. After I tried setting up a new Mod I wanted to download, BLEED, all of my mods were marked as uninstalled. So I reinstalled all of them using NMM. I deleted Bleed and the NVSE plugin, Lutana, since it caused my game to get stuck on the title screen, and I wasn't particularly interested in troubleshooting for just one mod. When I tried playing with just my normal mods, the in game mouse cursor wouldn't highlight anything on the pipboy, dialogue, pause screen, or option selects (like elevators). The mouse would work for long enough to choose what save to load, and for maybe a minute or two of gameplay, and then it's broken. I'm told this is a common problem, on modded or unmodded FNV. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is that I upgraded to W10. Here is a steam thread I found, showing other people who have this exact problem. https://steamcommunity.com/app/22380/discussions/0/613957600527470671/#p2 Any help is appreciated! I'm not asking to check for mod incompatibilities, just wanted to show them for reference! :) And here is a screenshot showing an example of the cursor not highlighting the "Binoculars" in the weapons tab. http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/287477208218018434/DF2E3253FD9241ED101A6FAD37C459D2CAC1DC93/

I have never heard of such a menu bug.

Maybe there's a mod that changes the hud or menus you once installed and forgot to remove completely.

There can be left over that make trouble.

Edit

Other things that may play a role:

- Anti Virus Software can interfere with running software

- Hardware-Issues, the Mouse can be broken. (Already had myself weird computer crashes with reboot which I never would have blamed to the mouse.)

- What’s your Operating system anyway?

- Did you clean your entire install dir before you did reinstall the game already?

At least the game has not been officially patched since a while ago, so everything else around the game that may have changed is in question.

You can open a powershell or cmd and type in "eventvwr" and hit enter.

This open the eventviewer. You may see errors around the time the issue occurs.

Beyond that, remember to always do what the rabbit said.
