Marcus Wolfe
I remember this one really weird dream from when I was about 6.I was at the top of the stair case of my new home, and there was a snapping turtle at the bottom. (It was all in 3rd person view) Whenever I took a step down, the turtle's neck stretched until we were face to face, and I had to take a step back. But the Turtle slowly climbed up the stairs. Weird thing is, not only do I still remember this dream very well 8 years later, but I do not have any turtle phobia, as one might interpret from this dream. Proving dreams are just random pictures put together. As for this heaven and hell thing.....Is there an afterlife? If so,to which will I go?If not, what will happen to my consious mind when I die?It keeps me up at night. hoots7
---------------- Your Dream ---------I'll stop there. That's pretty much all of it. I cut off a piece at the end, but you got all the details you need. Now, there are two ways to look at the dream. The first one is the one I believed during the dream and for the first few minutes afterward. The second is what I believe now.1: I was truly in Africa, taking pictures and enjoying my stay. The dark sky and terrible conditions were part of Africa. 2: I was not in Africa as I had first beleived. I was in Hell. The dark sky, filled with clouds no light or star could penetrate. The people, damned souls trapped in this land of eternal suffering. No plants, no other sign of life or light. I was taking pictures, viewing Hell as it would be for me.The girl though, she was not part of Hell. The place where we sat, on the grass, that was my view of Heaven. So, what do you believe. Do you think I just had a rather peculiar dream of "Africa?" Or, instead, do you believe that I saw Heaven and Hell as it would be for me? Was this a dream or a message from God? Gives you something to think about.Septim741,This obviously had an affect on you because you’re posting this thread, but you haven’t lost your sense of style I see (Pink Floyd), that’s good. Please explain why you think there are only 2 possible answers to your dream?I can think of more but I don’t want to imprint anything on you. I don’t mean to avoid the question, I know you asked us to choose one or the other but I thought I could better help you this way (I think that’s more important). Peregrine
You aren't very smart are you? Haven't enough people already said it? Dreams mean nothing. Well, that's not entirely true... sometimes they can have meaning. Such as last night, when I had a dream involving EVE Online after playing it right before bed. Of course this was in a context where it made absolutely no sense, and was blended in with other images from my recent thoughts (which were equally out of context and nonsense). So overall, the meaning was just "I wish I had that kind of creativity when I'm awake". Don't get your hopes up that I'm agreeing with you, hoots7. You're still wrong (as well as not smart enough to read the previous posts), since I doubt your meaning was "you've been thinking about Africa a lot lately". Any meaning beyond the superficial one of recently important images coming back in dreams, dreams are meaningless. They're a random mix of images and situations, with absolutely no symbolism. Any symbolic meaning you find is purely the invention of your conscious mind, added well after the dream has ended. You were NOT thinking of that symbolic meaning while you were creating the dream. Therefore any statement about the "meaning" of a dream is just stupid. There is none. Use the creativity of your brain to inspire you elsewhere, or just sit back and enjoy the show. But don't expect to get any brilliant insight out of them.

Peregrine
Edit: some parts removed as they are irrelevant. Some parts are still relevant, however. He asked us to pick number 1. or 2. Is 1 + 1 equal to 5 or 9? If both answers are wrong, it is perfectly reasonable to provide a third, correct answer. Did I but in to your comment? NO, than show some respect. hoots7
Look bud, you can have your option & I can have mine, at least I’m trying to help. I am trying to help. Now he can stop wasting time on trying to analyze a dream for hidden meanings that don't actually exist. And he can make his decisions in life based on real information, not unreliable dreams. Septim didn’t ask if you if you thought God was a myth or not did he? Learn to read. I didn't say that god is a myth. In fact, I clearly stated that my argument about lack of meaning was valid even if god does exist. Note the part where I state "if god exists, he would not do this".He asked us to pick number 1. or 2. Is 1 + 1 equal to 5 or 9? If both answers are wrong, it is perfectly reasonable to provide a third, correct answer. Did I but in to your comment? NO, than show some respect. Do I care? By posting your comments in public, you make them open to discussion. If you don't like me disagreeing with you, stop being wrong. I didn’t offer my 2 cents on what I thought about religion, I’m just trying to get some more information from him before I answer his question. Neither did I. I offered facts about how the human brain and dreams work. The fact that you insist on seeing religion in those statements says more about your biases than mine. FritzDerochebrune
You aren't very smart are you? Haven't enough people already said it? Dreams mean nothing.Oh but they do! A month ago, I had a very pleasant dream about playing Call Of Duty (WW2 FPS) multiplayer. I was British in a Sovjet vs Germans map, and had two weapons: a rifle and an MP. First I was walking with my MP, shot some people down and continued. Everyone was happy (except for those who where shot) and played on. Then I saw some Germans standing on a roof, so I took out my rifle. The strange thing was, that is was making an annoying sound: 'pieperdepiep' and that continued. So I shot down the Germans quickly and changed to MP again. Problem was, the Jerries didn't stay dead... (:P Just kidding, took that out of Resident Evil.) The real problem was, that the sound continued. Even bashing the rifle against a wall, throwing it away and emptying its mag didn't help. And the Krauts seemed to be attracted by the noise. Then I woke up, still hearing the annoying sound, wich was made by my alarm clock! It had been ringen for 15 minutes or so... The meaning of this dream? Get up you lazy ba*****d!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Anyway, more relating to the topic: I had a strange dream once, a few weeks after my grandfather died. I was still young, but it was a dream I'll never forget. I've never told this to anyone, only a friend whose grandfather died more recently. Here it is: I dreamt I woke up (even worse than waking up in the real world) only to find my grandpa sitting next to my bed. There was nobody else, not in our house, not in the village or even in the city. Anyway, my grandpa took me to do fun stuff al day long, and though I don't know what thet exactly where, I know I enjoyed myself. At the end of the day, we watched the sun go down on a field close to our house. As my grandpa started talking, I looked up to him, only to notice his skin was fading, and he was becoming a skeleton. I also suddenly saw hunderds of children with their lost ones. That is what my grandfather said: "I'm going to have to leave now, for I must go. However, I will always be there when you need me, and we will sure meet again." While saying this, the last piece of skin disappeared and the skeleton descended into a fresh grave, together with all the other ones. When I woke up, I felt different than the night before. And I still do. As a child I never had much interest in religion, but that was a turning point. I now believe there is a heaven, that my family is waiting for me when I die. And that took away my fear to die. I know there are people who will see this as nonsence, or look at it at an scientific way (You wanted your grandfather to say that, so your mind fooled you...), but I know it was my grandfather who talked to me that night. Well, that's my dream, so I do believe it is possible your dream was a representation of Heavan and hell. Still: you can ask other people of what they think you dreamt, but the answer always lies within you. If you believe you've seen Heaven and hell, you probably have. Others can't tell what you've seen, as they never saw it ;) cya Fritz
