tactfulgamer
This is baffling me like crazy. I deleted the creature pack, magic spells pack and fnis and any file associated with it. I am still getting frozen animals: Horses and Bears. Chickens and people are moving fine. Can I delete the bear and horse animal meshes and then have skyrim properties verify cache to reinstall the genuine behaviors back? (Is that even doable?) I am using NMM. Also I have LOOT and TES5Edit. Please advise. Thank you. Edited April 13, 2016 by tactfulgamer
delgathar
are you using MO, NMM, WB, or doing it all commando?
tactfulgamer
are you using MO, NMM, WB, or doing it all commando? I should had put that up there. I am using mod manager. I also went through the skyrim/data and skyrim folder to make sure there were no left over or slippage files I guess. I didn't see any, but then again, I'm new to this so I could had missed something. What do you suggest?

tactfulgamer
Read the FNIS uninstall instructions. TLDr: I didn't de-install the creature pack when I uninstalled Fnis.and the file (Data/Meshes/animationsetdatasinglefile.txt) keeps getting regenerated. I think it could be, because I didn't de-install the creature pack. Sucks being a noob at things. With my week old knowledge and research, I was impressed that "NMM" will delete everything. That said, I was not aware there were "uninstall" rules. This kind of punches me in the face by surprise. So ok, I followed your uninstall instructions I am quoting below: First, if you have the FNIS Creature Pack installed: Open the Generator and press "De-Install Creatures".After that, remove the following files or directories:Data/FNISspell.espData/Meshes/actors/character/animations/FNISData/Meshes/actors/character/animations/FNISBaseData/Meshes/actors/character/animations/FNISSpellsData/Meshes/actors/character/behaviors/0_master.hkxData/Meshes/actors/character/behaviors/mt_behavior.hkxData/Meshes/actors/character/behaviors/FNIS*.hkxData/Meshes/actors/character/characters/defaultmale.hkxData/Meshes/actors/character/characters female/defaultfemale.hkxData/Meshes/animationsetdatasinglefile.txtData/Meshes/AnimObjects/FNISData/Tools/GenerateFNIS_for_ModdersData/Tools/GenerateFNIS_for_Users The Bears are still froze. I played from a new game to test. I didn't check the horses. I think I found the problem, sort of: The file: Data/Meshes/animationsetdatasinglefile.txtKeeps getting generated somehow. I think I know the reason: I did not de-install creature pack when I uninstalled Fnis. (I forget if I manually deleted it's file or not) when I combed through the data and skyrim folders after the uninstall to check for remnants. My noob senses are telling me: Could the creature pack somehow, still be lingering and regenerating this file? All the other files have been deleted - as per your instructions quoted above. Also, I do not have a (characters female) folder in my characters folder. Don't know if one of my female mods rewrote it and created a whole new folder. I don't think this has anything to do with the Bears and Horses being froze. Thought I'd bring it up just in case. Any further instructions? fore
You HAVE to uninstall the creature pack when you uninstall FNIS. But BEFORE you do that you have to press the "De-Install Creatures" button of FNIS. If you haven't followed this procedure you have to install FNIS again, and then press the De-Install button. The animationsetdatasinglefile.txt will NOT be created by the creature pack. Creature pack is only a data repository for the generator. If you don't run the generator at all then this txt file cannot be generated. However it might be re-installed, since it is part of the FNIS upload. DId you re-install FNIS? Generally I recommend everyone who considers himself a noob: uninstall mods ONLY if you really need to. Noob don't have the background what happens when they uninstall mods or tools which are more complicated than usual. Like FNIS. And especially when those mods are script heavy. Noobs install, uninstall, install, uninstall, ... and then they are surprised that FPS drops, MCM doesn't show up, CTD increases, or what else. Remember: Skyrim was never tested by Bethesda under these conditions.

If you haven't followed this procedure you have to install FNIS again, and then press the De-Install button.Nope, I did the dumb noob move - uninstall immediately! Ok, so you recommend to reinstall Fnis, then, uninstall fnis <- I understand this, but.... I have de-install creatures pack first. So I have to install the Creature Pack as well (Not just Fnis) correct? Or... maybe just kill whats regenerating the file? My noob knowledge here:Should I remove the Skeleton.nif in Character Asset folder of Bear and Horse - could that be the culprit regenerating animationsetdatasinglefile.txt? (I am actually starting to appreciate this dilemma, because... fnis is deleted, all it's assets are gone - so what the hell is regenerating this file?) I have been deleting all my saved games and starting games from fresh so it's not that either. Anyways, thought you'd like me to investigate in this manner so you too can have the answer and add into your database of issue resolve. I'll await your answer before I proceed with your initial recommendation. Generally I recommend everyone who considers himself a noob: uninstall mods ONLY if you really need to. Noob don't have the background what happens when they uninstall mods or tools which are more complicated than usual. Like FNIS. And especially when those mods are script heavy. Yea, I hear you and you are right. Jewells of wisdom I need to store to memory. I was never taught/shown this from the initial youtubers I stumbled across when I first picked up my laptop and wanted to play some modded Skyrim. I wish I had found the more knowledgeable youtube channels like Gopher, Shinji72 - to name a couple out of the many that I discovered only when I had the problem with Fnis and started searching for answers on youtube. Noobs install, uninstall, install, uninstall, ... and then they are surprised that FPS drops, MCM doesn't show up, CTD increases, or what else. Remember: Skyrim was never tested by Bethesda under these conditions. You hit the nail right on the head, as new guy not understanding, at the time, what you just expressed, my initial reaction was I have to uninstall Fnis because of this same issue - my bears and horses were being frozen. If not for that, I would had loved to experience Fnis and the new scripts from some amazing mods out there. Maybe in the future when I figure out why Fnis freezes my animals. JimmyRJump
Re-instal FNIS and the creature pack. Then open FNIS and un-install the creature pack by hitting the "de-install creatures" button smack under the "Update FNIS Behaviour"...

At least the Bears are moving, I'll have to check the other animals. Thanks guys. Though, I was curious what kept generating that particular file. A mystery it shall remain.
