Is this a dictatorship?

This forums not a dictatorship it more akin to a Feudal Kingdom. The Dark One rules by divine right of ownership and he has his Barons, the moderators who hold their position by giving service to the crown. There are the Premium members who are the Yeomanry and the free members who are the Peasants. As long as each caste doesn't overstep it's bounds the kingdom wends it's merry way. Just the two cents of one of the loyal peasants ( bows low to the crown).

Sorry, but this makes me sick to read. I never bow to anyone, not even the king or the prime minister. They are just ordinary people like you and me, and their position is their job. But fair enough that Dark0ne rules, since he owns the site. I have to agree with that. Just don't put him on a pedestal and make him overconfident. ;)

The thing we are trying to say, Dear man, or at least what I think we are trying to say, is that this is not a free society. You are guest within the halls of someone, their house, their rules. No matter what.

So if you do not want to end outside I suggest a simple and obedience is needed, does not mean you can't share your thoughts.

I know not whether Laws be right,

Or whether Laws be wrong;

All that we know who lie in gaol

Is that the wall is strong;

And that each day is like a year,

A year whose days are long.

So try to avoid the "gaol".

Peasant scum. Before I go to bed each night I have my servants wash me down with fine oils and lotions to remove the stench that comes from mingling with the great unwashed of the Nexus Kingdom :smug:

I heard about how the Barons and Earls at the Bethesda forums bathe in their peasants blood. Any dreadful punishments in mind for this Rebel?

Evidently you lack a sense of comic irony, but none the less we are guests in someones else's hall and good manners dictate that we act accordingly or leave for climes more suites to our tastes. I have no problem with the system if you do then there is aways a choice available to you. (Lugs scented oils up to the keep). :whistling:

And my wolves need feeding, scrounge up a few peasants for them, will you? Meaty ones, not those scrawny, grainy looking ones that are in the dungeons.

"Queen of mean". Good one Myr :laugh:

Did I ever say that freedom of speech = trolling? Did I ever say I wanted to change the rules? NO. So stop interpreting my post that way and start defending the rules.*yawn* In my opinion a little harmless trolling is just entertaining to read, unless it's insulting but that's just me, you don't need to care about that. Everyone has their level of toleration and the site has to set it on the lowest level, because most people are sensitive. Most people can't watch a horror flick or read controversial posts without feeling the need to bring the torches. It's just how it is.

Ok, the majority of trolling cases, that I see ending up being big trouble... are the ones in the Mod Upload threads, or the Imageshare sections of the site.

Those end up being trouble, because A) that kind of stuff isn't allowed in those areas, and the rules are much more strongly enforced in those areas. Its a no strike zone. B) Somebody else(s) either end up start carrying the torch as well, and the trolling starts to spread. OR people start counter trolling the troll.

Now.... as I said earlier, we have been letting more of that go, with less staff action than we had say.... a year ago. More warnings are given, or the reported post simply deleted from the thread. And in some cases, we bend that no-strike rule and issue a strike, sometimes two. Depending on the situation, and the severity.

And again, that is due to input from Robin. Substantiated by members of the admins. ANd we have to give Myr credit as well, since a lot of times in some of the reports she is taking the time to tell us to look into the entire situation, or providing feedback from other angles than just the report.

Heck, even sometimes when we have to ask them for advice on how to handle a situation, they proscribe to a more lenient solution, than we might have taken when I first started as a staffer.

So things Are changing in a more lenient direction.

If you ask some of the people that I have given strikes to, or given warnings to, they can tell you that in almost every situation, I tell them that it's because I don't want to see them getting into more trouble, and that I don't like seeing our people getting banned.

^I like this reply. Thank you. I also have to say that this is a very mature and intellectual forum, much thanks to the age requirement(some manage to slip by it) and the rules, so I will stop rebelling now. *Courteous bow*

Not a problem at all :)

Glad to help gain some insight or information about the inner workings around here :)

Now I should also mention that in a few rare cases, in the open forums we get a reported comment, and see that the community has already done a pretty good job of handling the situation. In cases like that, we sometimes either just let it go entirely, or just throw our own 2 cents in on the matter in the thread. ;)

In others, we can read a report about something that somebody has said, and we will take a look at it, and say "You know what? I really don't disagree with what this person is saying". If three or four of us agree, we just let it slide, unless the situation starts to escalate.

I should also mention tho that the debate threads have started to become a hot zone. With more trouble stirring up there, than there used to be. :(

And thats something that we've had to take on as a case by case basis.
