Black screen after removing Curse from Heselt

Recommended Posts

I have completed the ritual and protected Henselt, after which he and Geralt speak and the King states meet me at my tent. At this point the screen goes black, I still have sound.

My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD5450 all drivers are up to date.

This is the first graphic issue I have had

Can any one help please.

Could be any number of things that may cause black screens

Game Glitch - have you tried reloading a previous save to see if the same thing happens

Card heat - try checking the CPU and GPU fan and heatsink and clean with compressed air if necessary

What is your power supply specifications ? How old is the power supply ?

Should there be a video clip there? Maybe it didn't initiate properly or the clip is corrupted and needs reinstalling/replacing.

I'd try playing through to that point again and see if it occurs a second time, you might also be able to r/click and skip it.

Hi guys ! I got exactly the same problem at the same moment of the game, I was hoping the 1.3 patch to fix it, but it didn't...

It's really anoying because I just can't continue the game... It's part of the main quest.

I tried to reload the game a lot of time. Tried to go at the other edge of the map and come back.

So if someone manage to get rid of that problem, it would be great !

Thanks a lot fror reading me, a I appologize for my english, which should be a bit awful.

This happened to me as well. I ended up rebooting my system and that took care of the problem. have no clue why, but, I can say that my video card was running pretty hot at the time too. It did continue on to the cut scene and I didn't have any more issues. I also have times where the scene just stops and the audio starts stuttering, everything locks up. This is usually when the game goes to a cut scene. I have to reboot when this happens. :whistling:

I've had this happen to me four or five times during the game, and now that I'm thinking about it, it's usually happened when I've been playing a long time, so the suspect in my case is probably card heat. When I've exited out, left for a few minutes, then reloaded, it played out. Edited by FastBlackCat

Then, I don't think it's some kind of heating issues. Because I already had some of this and the symptoms were differents.

Also because I just launch the game just ahead Henselt's tent, and going in directly.

It's something weird that seems to happened to some persons, as Delmar89, or others that I had read throught the internet. And it recurently happened at this quest, so it looks like there's a problem...

Here, it's look like the cinematic is just not loading. I mean, there's a black screen that can't be removed by pressing Rclick. But I can move and hearing Geralt moving, or taking his sword and fighting against some people (still black screen). But I can't die or lose.

Then I can still return to the desktop to close the game which looks, according to the task manager, to respond.

It seems to be blocked somewhere between the cinematic and the in-game phase. It's really annoying.

Thanks for your help instead ! ;-)

Still searching how to solve it though !

Then, I ttherried that, but it didn't work also. My drivers were the 11.5.

Then, I had just tried something, remembering that I did talk to Henselt outside of his tent just after he told me "blabla comme see me at my tent this night blabla" and I thought it could be the origin of the problem.

So I loaded my savegame just after removing the curse and it worked. So maybe the problem's cause is the fact to talk with him before; or loading way before made the overall work...

Thanks all for the differents answers !
