InuyashaFE
I wonder exactly what purpose this'll serve, what kinds of features having a spouse will have. I hope it's not like having Eyja where they just walk around all day. I want to be able to do more to my wife other than asking for mead and pie, damn it! :wallbash:
hector530
So they're just copying Fable...innovative There's swords in Skyrim! They're just copying Wolfenstein! it also has dragons so clearly it copied everyone other game and book made before skyrim. damn you Bethesda!!!! no one is claiming it's innovative its just something people have asked for since fable so why not give the people what they want? billyro
I don't know what to think. Personally, I thought that the romance in the Fable games was alright, but nothing really came of it. Simply gift-gift-gift-gift-marry. I hope Skyrim will pull it off.
scot
Well maybe the spouse has features like cooking our meals and cleaning our armour (repair) or if she´s a mage she can restore magical weapons, she can even go with us on our adventures. It will actually act like a companion but with a purpose and story of their own, I loved new vegas companions as they had their own "life".Also they said NPC have jobs, so maybe the spouse goesto work and could bring some stuff related to her job (exemple:mining she can bring ore, smithing she can bring a dagger or other weapons or armours...)I think it gives realism if it´s done right and it´s also a great step to improve AI in gaming. Deleted472477User
I thought nords didn't even practice marriage? The retcon ninjas at Bethesda strike again. Admittedly, they do love them some retconning. I had thought though, based on the words of a female NPC (in Bruma I think) that not marrying but having a mate all the same was the old way of doing things. So it seems that some Nords might practice the old ways, and some might prefer a formal ceremony.
SansSword
I couldn't care less but I seem to be in the minority. Elder Scrolls to me (and I highly believe the vast majority of players) is about exploration and combat as opposed to pixelated love. While we're at it, lets get some brothels and whorehouses up too? Real enough? Babies out of wedlock? Child support? Abortion? Edited July 10, 2011 by SansSword

Anyways i think modder's could do a better job at creating this kind of stuff as they are not limited to an esrb rating.
billyro
Aw, come on. Dragon Age had romance in it, and I'm pretty sure most people romanced at least one companion. But you do have a point. Why no spears?
FnimonSni
Swords do piercing damage, axes do bleeding damage and maces ignores defense I think. The point is that these are their own skills. So if spears would be in it would certainly be its own skill, and that means more perks. Besides, what kind of damage would spears do? Correct me if I'm wrong.
