Devestational Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Hello everyone, sorry if I make no sense but it's my first time posting and I'm rather nervous. :( I've watched videos on how to add mods to my game (Skyrim) and have had almost no problems, until today. I just don't understand it - I haven't added any new mods for some time now, my game runs smooth between the ocassional lags, which is to be expected and it's nothing major. Today I started a new game, done my usual, but this time decided to join the Companions, all very well and good until I get to the quest Proving Honor - the game runs fine, nothing out of the ordinary, until I collect what I'm supposed to and clear the place out.Sounds fine, right? No. I can't leave the damn place! There's no lag, no stuttering as it goes to the loading screen when leaving the last chamber, but then it will Crash to Desktop. It's happening every time at the same point, and I've tried different exits and the 'coc' thing, and it still crashes me to desktop. I've browsed the web in search of answers, but everything I found doesn't line up with what I'm dealing with - most of them have said not to take a follower (apart from Farkas) in with you, which I don't normally have followers. In other words, Farkas is the only 'follower' with me throughout this quest, and before that I've had none.I can't seem to find the answer to my problem!I have SKSE(?) plus the ini. file which a lot of people with similar problems didn't have. So I just don't understand why this is happening. I played this last week, or the week before, with no problems whatsoever and I haven't downloaded any new mods that I am aware of. And yes, I have used LOOT and TES5EDIT. Can anyone help please? I really don't want to have to uninstall all my mods and the game to re-install the base game without mods. P.S.I even disabled all my active mods just to get through this part, and it still crashed.
AraFox Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Well, It's hard to track down a CTD as I'm sure you've figured out. I know you haven't added mods recently, but you may have uninstalled mods at some point? Try this. Clean your save and try again. I don't know if it will help, but it can't hurt. (good luck)
Devestational Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 Thank you, I have managed to fix the problem, but another has taken its place. -.- Seems I can not enter soome buildings without crashing to desktop. Sigh. Oh well. Anyway, thank you again!
Sleepytime Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 use this to figure out how much memory your game is using is a good place to start - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50471/?
