Is this normal?

So, I'm relatively new to PC gaming, and therefor modding. So when I check out the readme of the mods I download (specifically the willow companion) it just says to put two files in the data folder, and put the other mod folders in the meshes, textures, and voices folders. Which seems simple enough yet I when I check out my New Vegas directory, I don't have those last 3 folders. So how am I to install the mods? Please help, I'd very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

On a fresh install of New Vegas, you won't have meshes, textures or sound folders because all of the New Vegas resources are packed into .bsa archives.

To install Willow, just make a temporary folder on your desktop and unzip the Willow download there. Drag the meshes, textures, sound folders, NVWillow.bsa and NVWillow.esp files into your Data folder and you should be good to go.

Actually I manged to get Willow going again (somewhat, good enough to keep her anyway) by cleaning up my system files (I use iolo System Mechanic) before every game launch (including after crash/hangs and also requires a reboot) and severely restricting fast travel. It appears that FONV is really messing with Windows registry and I'm fairly certain at this point that the game has more than a few memory allocation errors. (Rebooting alone resets the memory registers.) It actually improves my overall game response as well.

At any rate visit Willow's Nexus page and in the comments section you will find bethjunkie's elegant instructions on Fomodding Willow (that also helped me.)

Good information! I actually use Auslogics EVERY SINGLE DAY to correct any and EVERYTHING on my computer from registry errors and defrag to junk files. So a good idea is also to just clean up and maintain your computer, since Fallout will benefit from the extra tidbits of speed. Edited by GothikaGeist
