sophiextime
Bethesda has forced with their new auto update a save system i didn't want in my survival mode. Yes, i could drop down to a easier difficulty setting, but i would be forced to, it is not an option. I want and enjoy survival challenges. I want to get hungry in the game. i want to get thirsty, sick and tired. I want to worry about how much i can carry and how i distribute what i collect. I want to worry about how really tough my opponents are and how careful i need to be. Because my character, Sophie worries about those things as she makes her way through the fallout wilderness in search of her son and trying to get by day by day.She wants to sleep because she is tired. What she doesnt want is to have to concern herself with where to sleep to save her progress. Because Sophie has no idea what 'saving' is. Yet she is being FORCED to. There is no option for me, the player to change that. I dont want my main concern and panic to be about where the closest bed is so i can SAVE my progress. I dont want to have to compromise my curious nature to explore or face a difficult task over saving my game. I dont want to be more scared of having travelled a long path without saving my game. I dont want to worry about saving at all!So why couldn't this save issue have been optional? why could there not have been an ON/OFF option in my settings menu to give me free choice to choose if i wish to have saving disabled? why is it FORCED on me?Right now i cant play Fallout until a kind modder enables saving in the menu.I could play the game on an easier difficulty but why should i? why should i suffer my joy for the game because Bethesda messed up?I know someone will eventually fix this but what really disappoints me is why this happened in the first place. DwellerBenthos
Maybe either of these might work? I think there are others as well, but these are the first that popped up. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11542/? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12580/? sophiextime
Thank you. i am watching both of these. There was also a holotape one but it sound tricky to find in-game and is a one-of use. Plus again for me personally i feel like the bed, it would become an object in-game that effects my immersion. Just a MOD that re-enables the save options in the main menu will be perfect, even better to re-enable the F5 quick save. I understand many will be quite happy having to find beds or holotapes or any object to use, drink, maybe even a flare they launch into the sky to save on survival mode and i am happy for them but its not for me. I dont think i am alone in feeling that saving has nothing at all to do with immersion or survival difficulty. Its a mechanic, not a challenge, it just bugs me that this mechanic has been broken and until a mod re-enables the save options in my main menu and or the F5 quick save i have to find another game to play. I appreciate the link and will carefully decide which to use. I am nervous about adjusting my ini files to be able to save but i guess if this is the only way to do it i will consider it. mcguffin
Did you even try to play the survival mode, or do you think you won't like it?You might be surprised ;)
TeamBacon
I agree that turning something like saving your game into a difficulty mechanic is just poor game design. But you are being a bit of a drama queen saying that Bethesda is forcing you to do anything because they made an optional mode of the game. I don't like the way they did survival mode, so I don't play it. I'm not going to go around an whine about how I can't enjoy my game anymore. DwellerBenthos
Get the mod manager, and just tell it to install the mod, I'm pretty sure you don't have to do anything other than that. The mod that saves on transition sounds like the one with the least intrusion into the game.
ZyphFL
Once upon a time in the olden days save points were the norm. However as others have said, there are work arounds.
TeamBacon
Once upon a time in the olden days save points were the norm. However as others have said, there are work arounds. But once upon a time games had much less content, so repeating sections of the game was kind of a necessity to stretch them out and give more playing time. Now that I am no longer 12 years old and have other things I would like to do with my life, I don't really see it as beneficial to be playing through the same section of game multiple times. Saving is a feature that is outside of the mechanics of the game and should be left that way. It is poor game design at the highest level of dumb. But as a result I don't play Bethesda's survival mode anymore, and I spend my time working on mods. I still enjoy Fallout 4, I just don't use this particular feature. Fatalmasterpiece
You guys are still arguing about this? If you don't like the survival save system just re-enable the console with http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11834/? and type "Savegame save001" etc whenever you want to save. greentea101
Do the console commands "save <name>" and "load <name>" not work in survival difficulty? I don't use that difficulty so I'm just curious.Edit: Nevermind, judging from the post above, apparently they disabled the console. If you ask me, re-enabling it and using the save/load commands seems like the best solution to the OP's problem.
