How do you rename objects?

This is hopefully a simple problem.

I recently downloaded some mods from a foreign site that go into my pipboy in a language I can't read. To help myself organize them, I thought I figured out how to go into GECK and rename them. However, when I equip any of these mods or armor now, I am getting the exclamation box.

So, my question is: How do you properly use the GECK to rename a weapon or armor?

I'm obviously new at this so if you want to answer this for me, please assume I know fairly little about modding. Thanks!

Scrivener,

That is the same box I changed (except it was weapons and armor). I was able to restore the original names by deactivating and reactivating the mods. One by one, they were working fine--then I started running into issues when I reactivated a particular mod. It started screwing with ones that were working fine before it. This of course, leads me to believe the problem is with that particular mod.

But is it the case that changing that box should change the object's name without difficulty, even if it's already installed?

Maybe this is a load order issue.

If I understand your question correctly, yes. You should not have to reinstall the mod after you change any records. The changes should take next time you load your save.

What mod are you trying to change names for. Maybe I can try to do this for you?

It's nothing on the nexus. They are from a Russian site. It's mostly stuff that would be removed from the nexus for using files the authors don't have the rights to. The file that I believe is causing the problem is a Mass Effect 2 armor pack.

If I run into more trouble I'll hit you up. I'm going to use the links you provided and see if that'll take care of things.

Thanks!
