  1. Hate to necro, but I was experiencing this. Found this thread looking for a solution. Turning down my AmbientLightingCurveInterior from the basic settings fixed it. Maybe this helps someone in January 2021.
  2. Selling of mods is, among other things, a violation of GECK licensing. You would get shut down by Bethesda real fast and probably sued.
  3. I will jump in and say something here. This is a matter in which I am personally invested since I have spent a large amount of money on models for use in Willhaven. Let's be clear about one thing: Sites like Turbosquid exist to sell 3d assets to people for use in things like games. That's why you see many products advertised as "game-ready." What is prohibited is buying something from turbosquid, then turning around and making the assets freely available in unedited format. This means I couldn't buy a product--let's say a rar containing fbx and tga files--and then post this same rar on the nexus calling it a "modder's resource." However, as is made clear from reading the full royalty free license, you are indeed allowed to convert the files into a proprietary format (packaging dds and nif into a bsa archive for example) and use the files in your game or mod. The notion of "royalty free" actually assumes redistribution will occur and frees the purchaser from paying later percentages of revenue to the seller of the models. I hope this makes sense. Turbosquid exists to sell things for people to use in their projects. This could even include professional game developers. The restrictions that are in place exist to protect turbosquid's ability to continue to sell the products after they have been purchased and used by others. If someone downloads my Chakan mod, for example, then uses the predator model I purchased from Faraz Mobin in a project of theirs, then THAT person has violated the copyright and their creation could be subject to legal action. However, it is still the case that my use of the product is protected and in alignment with the rights accompanying my purchase. Does this make sense?
  4. Hey buddy, how about removing those links? The people who made those videos didn't have permission to post them, plus those files violate nexus ToS. Since the files have my name in them, I'd really appreciate you doing the right thing and deleting your post. Well, the right thing would have been never posting it to begin with. Removing the post is just the next best thing. Thanks.
  5. Eating vegan trail mix. Who's the big winner here? Me.
  6. Cool. I'm going out to get food. Very hungry. I win.
  7. Check out the "Good things in Goodsprings" house mod. It's got a basement with a big armory and a firing range. Definitely a top 10 player home mod.
  8. If Medieval armor is what you're after, check out the Legion Power Armor I've just uploaded a few days ago. It has that sort of feel to it.
  9. After reading this tutorial earlier today, I came home tonight and (with no blender experience) began successfully porting Oblivion armor into New Vegas. As the author indicates, it's a relatively simple process once you learn it--it's just a matter of having the patience to do it!
  10. Thanks. I think I got it figured out finally. NEW question now. Any idea why GECK likes to crash when I try to add the nif to the static or model of the weapon?
  11. I've used nifscope and successfully created the model for my gun. It looks fine in game and the static works perfectly. However, when I equip the weapon, its CTDs 80% of the time, and when it allows me to equip the weapon, it is way too big. Any suggestions? I don't understand why I can equip it sometimes and not others when I'm doing the same thing.
  12. I will look into that Edit: This actually comes pretty close on its own... Good looking out http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/thumbs/36154-3-1290188579.jpg
  13. All of the components exist for this set of armor already within the vanilla game and the gunslinger outfit mod. The armor I'm after is inspired by the gunslinger, Roland Deschain from Stephen King's Dark Tower series. This armor could be put together (roughly) with the following things... - The ranger scarf outfit as the base - The coat from the veteran ranger armor minus the metal back poking through (looks much better than the dusters) - The gunbelts from the gunslinger outfit - Make sure the textures are dark colors Voila! http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-snc4/71038_37671812022_8113569_n.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_33MAIPA4kEI/TCLuaOb0MNI/AAAAAAAAAI4/SgI7OTOSUl8/s1600/RolandDT1.jpeg
  14. There are not. I asked this same question and got flamed for asking a question that'd been covered many times. There is, however, a light saber mod that puts a saber in both hands. The left hand weapon is purely aesthetic though. I'm sure this is possible for guns too, but you'd only be able to fire one.
  15. That's a funny point about the Boomers in Power Armor -- why bother? Although before they found Nellis, there could have been a use for it. Accordingly, arming the gate guards only makes some sense. The goal of my mod is to amp up the degree of... how to put it?... badassness of the major factions. In Fallout 3, at least you had two opposing factions with various sets of power armor. However, in New Vegas, watching the opening video is exciting (because I love the story and setting) with the exception of the screen where it is said that the NCR held the dam, just barely. The armor and weapons shown there are totally underwhelming. This caused me to evaluate the scale of the standoff and factions at the Dam. Think about it: the NCR clad in boring brown uniforms and silly trooper hats versus the Legion in football pads and relatively lame masks -- does this do justice to the story? I think not. It's hard to not imagine the BoS emerging from Hidden Valley and wiping the floor with both the NCR and the Legion. The rangers and centurions are not enough of a presence to convince me otherwise. Thus, the NCR rearmament helps a lot to make the troops look more like a significant military force--the type capable of clearing the Mojave of raiders and establishing a stable democracy. Legion redesigned goes a long way towards helping the Legion appear as a faction that is a real threat to snipers, rangers, and soldiers armed with machine guns and salvaged power armor. In addition, TG's armors include a Legion helmet that I'll layer in to help Legion redesigned do a better job with headgear. Toxa01 did a nice replacer mod for the NCR power armor. I'm currently trying to get his permission to use it AND make sure it doesn't include models or textures that are not suitable for the nexus. If it turns out this armor is acceptable, I'll recolor it to brown and include it. There are some really nice modded sets of raider gear out there that I'm going to arm the fiend bosses with. Fiendish Power Armor is nice, but a little too much for them I think. (In a separate mod, I want to establish a raider camp to the east of the Colorado with the Four Horsemen where the FPA will be used.) It will require FO3 meshes and textures, but Moto-Runner in the modded Ashur's PA (with the horns on the helmet) will be nice; Cook Cook in raider power armor; Driver Nephi in either the psycho coat or raider leather armor; and Violet in bone armor. I'm also going to layer in some other sets of armor to the BoS. Ramos will have the Star Paladin armor from daejones's FO3 mod (and maybe a Faderator!). The rest I still have to sort through. So what else??? I want this to be as complete as possible, but 100% lore-friendly and sensible
  16. Some of my favorite mods are those that take the vanilla armors and replace them with things not just better looking, but sometimes even more lore-friendly than their vanilla counterparts. I'm preparing to compile what is -- in my mind at least -- the one-stop shop for replacer mods. I want to compile the best of all the mods out there, tweak them where necessary, and add a few splashes of my own. My question for you all is this: What are YOUR favorite replacements, or what good replacement ideas do you have? For example, the lore-friendly NCR rearmament and Legion redesigned are natural choices. Old raider helmets also goes a long way to relieving one of the boring fiend helmets. And I've got a few other ideas... So let's hear your ideas. I'm sure you all have great ones.
  17. Befo, Those shields already exist. They can be ported over from FO3: Wasteland Gear Also, there is a raider power armor that can be ported that may have some of the feel this thread is after. I personally think the idea is kind of silly though. If you read into the history and lore of power armor, it's rather complicated and beyond the scope of being, "restored ... to working condition using junks and bits of other power armour suits." What you would basically have is a big tin can on par with metal armors. Why do you think power armor training is required just to wear the stuff? My advice to the topic starter is what the other people on here have said. If you really want the armor, take the time to learn how to make it yourself. I have no modding experience at all. In less than a week's time I've learned to port Fallout 3 mods to NV, to add containers filled with whatever I want, and create basic world locations. It's really not hard if you just pay attention and have patience. I'm going to make a custom set of armor for myself. I'll share it with you all when I'm happy and done.
  18. Have you ever played Fallout 1 and 2, the humor and pop culture references are what makes these games so enjoyable. No, I haven't played either one of those games. Even if I had, my criticism would still be valid. I understand that many people may enjoy the humor. I don't hate it, but I don't think it enhances the game. To be honest, it's just not very funny. So my suggestion remains reasonable. Someone like you could choose the Wild(er) Wasteland Trait. I would choose to have my Fallout as dark as possible. Ideally we'd both get maximal enjoyment out of the game that way. And Steve! I'm going to check out the three versions of the cap right now!
  19. A week ago I had ZERO modding experience. Go to YouTube and look for videos on "how to port fallout 3 mods to NV" and find the guy who puts Mass Effect 2 armors in his inventory. The method he shows is very simple and has worked well for me. Good luck!
  20. That's pretty close... and a good find! I don't think I like the logo on the shoulder though. I think the armor in this request is a little grittier looking
  21. It's one of the user uploads in the Willow file. It makes sense that it's a rip from somewhere. Maybe it's an armor put on Lily or something. Lame.
