IronRoan Posted July 18, 2011 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Lets face it, anyone who's played through the Honest Hearts DLC and used Joshua as a companion has had the thought of how neat it would be to melee with their ranged weapon of choice. Currently, the only available options are mods which add a reverse-held pistol or such to swing like a melee weapon. What I'm proposing is this: A mod that assigns an unused key (Like F), and allows a player to melee with their sniper rifle, energy weapon, revolver or shotgun of choice. Ideally, the damage would work off of melee weapons skill, and scale with that. Though, I see difficulty with having two different sets of damage for the same weapon, so this might not be possible. However, the best features of this would allow players to adapt their favorite weapon for different combat situations, without the need to hot-swap unless they want to. For me, I personally enjoy using two weapons - The Gobi Campaign Sniper Rifle, and the Ranger Sequoia. But the issues I encounter when using any gun is fighting mutated bugs, specifically Cazadore and Giant Mantis. In the former's case, they move too fast for me to accurately snipe from a distance, and in the case of both, I have accuracy issues in VATS at point-blank range. The various mantis infestations force me to pull out my Combat Knife or Chinese Officer's Sword to dispatch them. I personally, would rather swat these annoying bugs with the back-end of my rifle. huntsman2310a Posted July 19, 2011 Share Posted July 19, 2011 as far as I know, I don't think its even possible to do, I mean, in a way that works smoothly and effectively. I think one way to do it, would be a scrip that activates when you press say.......F (as you said), and you switch to a melee version of the weapon. But as I said, this way would be terribly inefficient and a *censored* to mod at that. (If you had five different ranged weapons, you'd be carrying five melee versions as well.) antonkr Posted July 19, 2011 Share Posted July 19, 2011 Only practicle way this is possible (with still crapload of animation work >.<) Is having a separate weapon that instead is melee.
