Questions regarding NIF's and quadratic XYZ rotation keys

Now I remembered I saw someone explain those around. I assume all this could be done way easier using a MAX or similar program, where you wouldn't have to edit frame by frame.

More efficient than creating 0.0001s keys to transition between states: 0 → .9999, 1 → 1.999, etc.

@Ethreon: NifSkope is a powerful thing, and free! I have no idea how to set up an animation to export correctly with NifTools, and I'm not even going to try, anticipating all of the errors that would require close inspection and revision to likely fix anyway, in NifSkope.

All I wanted was to make on/off lights.. I still feel unprepared to tackle that.

I have done a few lights that turn off / on properly like the vanilla lights. Bethesda actually does it 2 different ways, but I can probably help you do it.

Easiest way, as with many things, is to import your geometry into a vanilla mesh, and re-purpose the code there. Once you've done it, it isnt too hard. Adding a 2nd or more light source via add-on nodes that turn off / on with power is time consuming but not too bad either. My Mr Gutsy chandelier has 3 light sources at the moment.

I haven't really tried recreating the whole thing myself, because it doesn't seem like we can properly create the booleans it calls on... I also don't fully know what the values do anyway, aside from the yes / no portion.

One thing I havent yet figured out exactly, is how to change the color of the bulb emission when the bulb turns on. I always have to go with the default white, which is fine, but I need to figure it out soon. I tried changing the emission color as it is listed, but seems to have no effect. I haven't dug into the issue much yet though.

I got 2 objects that I'd have to rebuild. I am not going to rebuild one, because it would be a pain (prefab with anim cloth). The other one has 6 lights. Fun times :)

Yeah, my Mr Gutsy chandelier technically has.. 6 bulbs I believe. But I semi-faked it for now with 3 light sources, because adding in each one is a little time consuming and I didnt feel like it lol. It doesn't look bad the way it is, I have a center light and 2 side mounted lights that light it up fairly well. But I need another 2 to make it look better.
