Change of Ad Provider

Oh awesome! I hope the new ad service works out better. I had adblock turned off here, but I was getting some terrible ads so I had to turn it on. I'll be happy to turn it back off here once it's all fixed. I really appreciate the respect for us users on this subject.

I am pleased though that Dark0ne has taken an active interest in this and is doing something about it for non prem members. Other sites should take note of this as the ad industry just seems to be totally out of control now and at least this site is trying to do something about it.

Consider, though, that providing payment info to a website is as dangerous, in many cases, as unscrupulous advertising. Nexus has been hacked in the past, for instance, as have major retailers and banks. I left before, not because of the actual cost of No Ads, but because I am unwilling to give websites access to my payment (credit card) information. (I got a $25 pre-paid card just to enroll here and, no, I don't buy things on-line; I'm a supporter of my local economy when possible.)

There is a certain naivete evident in the expressed surprise at current advertising content and methods. Its hard to believe any Internet user, let alone a website owner, is not aware of current Internet advertising processes and methodology.

You are absolutely correct that ad-blockers and new ad-blocked browsers are caused by the advertisers, themselves. Unfortunately, they don't take hints and now we get things like Windows 10 which bundles data collection and advertising into the OS itself.

Good luck on your search for a responsible advertiser. I doubt one exists, because of the competition in the industry, but you might luck out in the short term. In the long run, though, you'll have to strike up a deal with Microsoft; they finally admitted to themselves where the money in contemporary home computing is at.

Nexus never handles the payment info themselves. It's all done through paypal. Which is... hopefully... as secure as it gets.

That's not as described in the Privacy and Refund Policy; it just says they don't store the info on their servers. In any case, few websites are as concerned about their users as is NEXUS. Its nothing personal, just a habit I developed after watching Netscape and Microsoft work to make an unsecure Internet protocol into a financial transaction pipeline. The potential for criminal data and financial abuse on the Internet was obvious to many way back when. I just watch it play out on a daily basis nowadays, and shake my head.

PayPal? Even less assured than I was before. ;)

Thanks for letting me know! I've had ad-blocker turned on because when ads are running on this site, they actually slow down my computer. With my ad-blocker, I could surf this website normally. I will definitely have the service disabled once you guys initialize with your new provider. I love this website.

I just want to take a moment to say how impressed I am with your service to your community. Not only are you NOT exploiting your user-base by basically forcing them to pay to get rid of shitty ads, but you are also risking your revenue for the betterment of your user's experience. Bravo. I can not stress how impressive and admirable that is. If anything should move people to donation for premium, it should be this, and I myself definitely see myself donating in the future.

Thank you! I believe the world should consider you and the Nexus team a group of saints for the dedication you offer!
