Change of Ad Provider

THANK YOU!

Those ads were really obnoxious, and made it difficult to browse this site in peace. I come here to make my games more fun, not to get shouted at by cleaning products. I'll be around a lot more now, both because it's easier on my ears, and because I feel like you guys actually care about us, at least on some level.

Sorry to say I'm having to reenable adblock. There's some ad which tries to give me malware by trying to automatically download some fake "Flash Update". I can't report it because it doesn't seem to be any of the ads I'm seeing. But it only happens on this site, and only since I disabled adblock.

Are you still having the problem after they said their ad provider was changed? cause I was having the same problem and I'm not going on nexus or turning off adblock until this problem is confirmed to be solved

Yes, that's when I disabled adblock & when I started having the problem.

^ I just wanted to agree with this. I don't have to turn off Flash for this website to keep my browsing quiet of unwanted noise.

nexus team, you have been with us for ages, giving us a place to gather our most favorite times. i doubt anyone will disagree with me when i say, you have brought us the many memories for years to come, you have helped many to create there dreams, and go onto do full time work on things like these, you have helped indie game modders learn to love and live through modding, you have brought the PC gaming community as a whole together, from this point further i pledge to the nexus team to not use ad-blocker, and i'd love to see other people pledge the same

Props for actually admitting a big reason why people use adblock. The most important part is the malware and viruses. Most people get viruses and malware these days through infected advertising. Most providers just don't care, and too many sites don't care either so long as the money keeps flowing in.

The only way to make advertising work for people is to crack down on dangerous, as well as annoying ads. And to not pester people about using Adblock. AdBlock Plus has an automatic whitelist feature people can enable that sites can sign up for. If they meet strict criteria, they get on the whitelist. That's an important thing that needs to be made more of a thing. It can help reign in bad ads, putting strict quality controls on that you need to adhere to while still letting people use AdBlock for non-compliant sites.

Nexus should aim to get on that list. I think it'll help a lot. For one thing, you need to stop spamming people who choose to use adblock with messages pleading with them not to. You'll never get on the list if you do that. Keep on this track with cracking down on bad ads. And make sure ad placement stays reasonable. Details about it, and how to apply to be on the whitelist, are on the acceptable ads page on the AdBlock Plus website.
