tahunuva
I have a large number of mods installed, and after the newest round of updating I encountered a crash that would occur whenever I fast-traveled or moved any significant distance. I created a merged patch with FNVEdit to attempt to fix this problem, only to find that after creating the patch, my game crashed on startup, just after the Bethesda Softworks credit slide appears. Oddly, this persisted even after unchecking or removing the merged patch, and in fact even happened when I disabled all mods and DLC. I did a complete reinstall, then replaced my data folder, and this stopped the startup crash, but when I recreated the merged patch, the crash reappeared. I have no idea where this crash is coming from; repatching the game to replace my .exes and master files doesn't get rid of it, and I didn't think that FNVEdit should be touching anything except the .esm and .esp files, but none of those are causing the crash. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
tahunuva
Update: while fiddling with backups, I managed to completely delete my Data folder. This problem is now unsolvable without a full reinstall of all third-party content I had installed. However, if anyone knows how to fix the original problem, I'd love to know for future reference. Gracinfields
Well he can always have steam verify the games data and it will fix the issue. Down side he has to install all his mods again. Hmmmm, Check to see if your Fallout.esm is the first in the load order (this can cause some crash issues), removing the Fallout.ini file from documents/mygames/New Vegas then starting the game and then remaking all modifications back to it can help. I also read a thesis on the site about having more then 75 total esm/esp can cause ctd issue late in the game, also a lot of large save files. I have also noticed things some mods like warzone can cause some ctd issues in certain area's rich in NPC activity, as well as the unlimited companion mod late game when you have more then 3 human companions and 2 non human companions.
