Problems with textures and terrain.

Oh hai Marks.

I've got a problem with my game, hope somebody can help. I tried a lot of things, but nothing helped.

Problem starts right after starting the game. Place I'm at after the save looks alright, but whenever I move about a minute away textures get noticeably worse, as if it's the lowest LOD.

Sometimes terrain doesn't load at all.

It doesn't matter whether I play at ultra or low. I'm using ENBoost (tried 4096, 8192, 9000, without it at all), tried optimized textures mod, ran the game with mods, without mods. Checked the game's cache over 9000 times, did clean installs, tried to tinker with NVidia control panel, tried to apply memes. Nothing worked.

Even my previous rig with FX-4100 and GT440 didn't do that.

My rig:

GeForce GTX 960 GPU

Intel Core i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40 ghz, not OCd.

8gb RAM.

Using latest card drivers. Win10.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, I also tried defragging hdd.

Have you validated your game files in steam to make sure your not missing anything?

Yes, as stated in the post.

Duh.... Sorry but somehow even though I did read your original post somehow I totally didn't comprehend what I was reading I guess...

BTW... 9000 times? Really? I would have given up somewhere around 5000....

I've undergone training you wouldn't even comprehende, amigo. Almost 3.5 pushups a day, you don't know the limit of my power.

But really, I need help with this problem.

I don't necessarily know a fix but I know what's happening to your game! The clue is that objects which should be much larger (such as the red rocket you're standing near) are very very small! For some reason the game is loading 'distant' LOD objects and textures instead of the detailed meshes and textures.

Sometimes you can get very strange graphics glitches as saves begin to corrupt. Try loading a really old save as the first save you load, when you boot up the game. Walk around and try to replicate the bug. If you can't then erase all your saves past that save-game and then continue.

Other than that, looks like some kind of detail setting is messed up.

The first issue relatively common. I believe there is an ini tweak that helps but for the life of me I can't recall if it was for vanilla or an enb "fix", Second picture isn't actually terrain that is missing, that is a trap mesh, a rather large trap mesh. Why it's not loading I can only guess. A mod could be messing with it, if you disabled something in console but it wasn't actually selected but the trap was. I've not had this issue. Could be a gpu issue.

Good luck,

Geoff

I already know that the game sets LOD for this as for a far-away object, it's quite obvious from the looks of it.

Starting new game didn't help, it's noticable even before I get to vault 111 entrance (billboard on the way there looks like a roasted dingleberry.)

Not sure about settings, as I said, I tried low, ultra, tweaking the NVidia panel. But thanks for trying.

Yeah, ENBoost was the first thing I tried. As stated above I tried using it.

Not yet loaded meshes with low res textures where they should be is what I mean by buggy terrain, since I fall through it. Not sure what is a "trap mesh" tho. They come back after like a minute of staring at them, so they're not completely missing.

Tested my gpu on some benchmarks, it's stable.

Thanks for suggestions. Also, this is *one* big issue.

Okay. Problem was solved by completely deleting everything that has anything to do with F4, reinstalling my OS, installing everything to another drive. Clean game now runs smoothly.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and by common ways of my country you are all my waifus now. Be loved.
