Flowerguy360
My load time is about 5 seconds flat. <.< Okay, yeah... Mine is closer to about five minutes. I've been thinking it was the number of mods I'm running or my settlements, but my settlements only really slow me down when I approach them (depending on how much I've built, my FPS drops a little or a LOT). I've been meaning to combine a bunch of my mods and tear down a bunch of settlement stuff (my Sanctuary is kind of insane), but now it sounds like doing so won't do me any good. :/ Royhr is right, too. This slows down my progress on modding MASSIVELY. And it breaks my concentration, too, as I have to stop everything I'm doing for testing, then finally test, and figure out where I left off (because, ya know, A.D.D.). Honestly, I spend more time in the loading screen than I do in the game. WTF, Beth?

Seek out mods that ameliorate surroundings without taking away picture quality. A lot of modders never mention the polygon count on their textures either. The higher the polygon count the more effort the rendering takes (and the quicker your settlement bar, top right, gets filled, too). Number of mods never made any difference to me. I started and finished my first two play-throughs totally mod-free, back in November and load times haven't changed much since. Bethesda claimed that with update 1.3 (I think) the loading issue was solved, but I didn't see any difference Plus, they paid so much attention to make the game run the Far Harbor DLC without a glitch and optimising the former to the extreme for the latter, that they lost sight of the bulk of the game which became less and less optimised as Bethesda added content. That's why some areas became a stutterfest, no matter how many 980ti/FuryX cards or what amount of RAM you have, while my MSI R7970 originally could run the game in Ultra without breaking a sweat in Boston Common and other areas which now have become problematic to get through... Rodjama
It's the engine, I've seen forums whereby discussion often leads to flame feasts about how buggy the engine is in the first place. Its a bit like building a skyscraper, if you don't get the foundations right, how the heck do you expect the extras on top to be stable??
JimmyRJump
The game engine is fine, believe me. It's the optimisation of what's been done with/within that engine... plus Bethesda having the knack of repairing certain things that break other things in the process.
