amycus
Hi!I'm not a modder for the TES games specifically, but I was contacted with a friend who is trying to learn. He is currently trying to figure out how to make pieces of a sword to glow on the edges, as if some kind of force kept them together, and have already posted a thread about it here: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/411940-particles/ It seems that he has only found workarounds so far though, so I thought I would post here and hopefully someone more experienced with the oblivion toolset can check out his thread and help him. I will have to admit that it feels like I'm spamming here while I write this though  , so if anyone feels a bit irritated by this post cluttering the board, please tell me and I will make sure that I don't do it again.
Grumpf_be
Why not use a magic shader on it?You can add a script to your weapon that will play the shader on draw for example.
Ghogiel
I don't understand the effect he is trying to accomplish. I think he wants a p-array emitting in object space. But what that will do is emit particles in every direction from the blade pieces. Not just in the gaps. What he could do is make an (invisible) emitter mesh that fills in all around the edges of the broken pieces, then use a p-array to emit particles out from those faces. That would accomplish the effect of emitting particles from the edges and only from the edges of the broken pieces. Best off doing in max 6-8 with civ4 tools, but if you know particles and nifskope it's doable but takes 20xs longer.
amycus
Thanks for the answers guys. Since I havn't modded for any bethesda game yet (might give it a try when skyrim is released) I don't know too much about nifscope myself. I will send your suggestions to him (I won't give out your names though, so you don't get drowned with further questions).Oh, and kudos to you guys
