CredibleJoe
I've always had problems with crashes, it was always infrequent to the point of tolerability. It would be quick, I'd get a CTD, skip the error report, restart it, it's all fine. The game itself runs perfectly, I have a high frame rate, no stuttering, smooth mechanics. However, lately, I've been getting consistent crashes. The annoying ones where the game would freeze for several minutes, looping the background music, before minimizing and shutting down. I can almost time the crashes with how consistent they are, every fifteen minutes or so. The really weird part, is I can tell it's about to crash before it happens, due to the meshes being covered in flickering white and gray specks, like static on a TV. Those show up, less than a minute later, game freezes. And if I try to ctrl/alt/delete out of the screen, NV gets stuck in the foreground, forcing me to reboot the computer. I have a Radeon 1650 graphics card, 2 gigs of RAM, 3800 dual core processor. I have quite a lot of mod content, and any problems the mods have given me have been taken care of a long time ago, this problem is new. Foremost among my mods are: Project Nevada, Mikotos beauty pack, NVR Lock bombing, all of the official DLC, BOG type 3 (along with some clothing mods), Imps timescale adjuster, Run the Lucky 38, New Vegas Bounties one AND two, and RWD (Realistic weapons damages). I don't think it has anything to do with my mods, I've had most of these mods for months, and this is the first time the problem has cropped up this consistently. Any advice? =\
XxLunaMothxX
It's probably something to do with an update. Did you try re-installing the game yet? That might help. Also you might wanna isolate which mods (if there are any) cause the crash. Say check one mod, play for 15-20 minutes if it still crashes avoid using that mod. But before you do that, disable all your mods and see if your game crashes. If so try reinstalling the game, if you already did then look on nexus for a hot fix or something. maboru
How long have you been using the Radeon 1650? The card came out about five years ago I believe and it's possible that it's starting to overheat. Is it's cooling fan still working properly? Is it still seated in it's slot properly? FONV is of course very video card intensive but have you seen any problems in other games? If it starts to overheat in the game it will eventually stop doing what FONV needs it to do, especially if the card's on board memory starts to fail and it had to make more calls to system memory for support. Since you're only running the bare minimum for the game in the first place this could cause a consistent crash. Try opening your computer case, vacuuming it out, remove the card and clean it (a touch of alcohol with q-tips), put it back in, turn the rig back on before closing it back up and see if it's onboard cooling fan is still functional, power back down, close the case and see if that helps.
