who can solve my CK problem

Hello Everyone!

I humbly come here again asking for all of your expertise to help me with a huge problem.

My hard drive crashed so I had a new one installed. The tech talked me into upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 pro. I had to redownload everything, NMM, SKSE, Skyrim, and the creation kit. There is where the problem comes in.

Every time I go to load the CK, it crashes almost immediately. I've tried every "fix" out there including the following:

the infamous change the audio in the SkyrimEditor.ini to =0 fix

the adding the DLCs (which I have all) to the SkyrimEditor ini and also adding the masterfiles lines

Making steam its own path for the skyrim files

verifying all files through steam

I've redownloaded Skyrim and the CK 3 times already

When I had windows 7 I had no problem and had used the CK for months with nary a crash. Now the CK is completely unusable no matter what I've tried.

I want to keep windows 10 if at all possible, so that should be kept in mind for your helping me to get this working. I will pay the $50 to the first person who can successfully get my CK to work again and the fix has to be a stable fix that lasts preferably in my windows 10 pro format. If you think the windows 10 pro is the issue and windows 10 would not have the problem then make your argument. But I need to be assured of that because redoing my whole OS is not something that I want to do.

<snip> do not solicit or offer money for services again please

Micalov

Thanks all in advance. I hope someone here can fix this for me!

I had this exact problem when I first installed Windows 10. The fix was to run both Mod Organizer and the CK in administrator mode.

Already tried that. Makes no difference if it is run as administrator. I don't use MO, but NMM. NMM works fine. Thanks though for the reply.

Where's the Steam-folder? Once upon a time I had severe problems with it being in the default (c:\program files(x86)\steam\) location. Windows tried to protect the files there and CK crashed. As soon as I copied Steam to a different location (g:\games\steam) and reinstalled Steam with that folder as a target, everything was fine.

I'm using Win 10 Pro (64bit) and MO for a few months now. CK has crashed very very rarely (the only error I get often: CK often won't close when I try to close it, then I have to kill it with the Taskmanager). Not really helpful, just saying Windows 10 Pro alone might not be the guilty one.

Thank you for offering this, however, that was the first thing that was tried. I altered the path so that Steam was it's own folder. I appreciate the idea!
