Unlocking doors?

Umm... why do "Open" spells not work on doors? I swear they don't in my game. They work on chests. But not doors, and for the life of me I don't know why. I don't think this is how it should be.

Doors have a varied lock number and some of the time open spells are a bit too low.

Standard wooden type doors? or the annoying gates with bars? Had similar problems with the barred variety because it didn't detect a hit i think... but yeah they definitely open doors far more efficiently than lockpicking.

But I've tried all kinds of Open spells on all different kinds of locked doors but it never works on them. I tried opening an easy lock with Open Average AND Easy Lock spells, and it did not work... Edited August 5, 2011 by Lehcar

This is weird.I don't have any mods that seriously alter those spells so I can't figure out why I cannot open any doors with them.

Try putting that in a spell (script effect), and see if that works.

I tried it but unlock spells still don't work on any doors, trying to open the doors to chapel undercroft, but they do not unlock. :(

you have to get right up to the door maybe and make sure your icon shows that you can click on it to open it, then cast the spell. They definately work so you are doing something wrong. Unless its a door which you can only open with a special key.

Yes, if you are using an on-touch spell you have to get quite close. They will also not work on dummy doors that go nowhere.
