Fonger
I would go with the quad core.. From what I read, clock speed isn't as important as having more cores...I wouldn't exactly count myself as an expert on this matter though.depends do your games actually use the extra cores or do they simply sit idle like in Oblivion, FO3 and Vegas that makes the clock speed more interesting. and 2 cores for those rare times that something will actually use them Of course if you are looking 10 years down the line buy a new computer in 10 years. Dan3345
I'm sorry but either way you are wasting your money IMO.. If you are buying the computer to play games, don't buy a mac. Period. If you are buying a computer to play games, build it yourself. You will save money and end up with a better computer than what alienware could build.. There computers are all flash. They look ugly (Most think they look cool i guess) they charge ridiculous prices for cheap components, and the build quality is awful.. Really its awful. Cheap plastic, the cases have little no none expandability, no slots for expansions, most I have seen have locked 5.25" bays, so you can't add fan controllers, extra USB's or an extra disk drive. They have horrible air flow too, which is funny given the fact that their most expensive computer has these shutters that open when the case gets too hot, however my friend owned one, and it had no fans to blow air out through the fans. Even if it did though, the fans would be useless because the shutters would be closed sometimes depending on what you are doing. Worst of all, alienwares customer service is rubbish... Simply rubbish. I don't even want to talk about my own experiences.. And if I can go back to why not apple. Because Steve Jobs thinks it is perfectly fine to add an inch or two to an ipod screen, or take away an inch (new ipod nano wtf?) and then charge another $150 - $600 (Ipad wtf? enlarged ipod touch?). Same with their rubbish OS, he changes a small bit of the script, gives it a new name, and calls it a magical update that he is going to charge his loving and gullible customers $180 for. Mac users are the most fanatical people I have ever met.. Totally in denial about their overpriced, paper weights. Not only that, but the mac OS uses 95% of all RAM at all times. And only frees up too 35% for RAM hungry programs. Why? How should I know. But it's a mac, its worth the $3000 price tag, because....because it's a Mac. It's like people who justify owning a BMW, it's a hideous car, filled with awful features, like the satmap that doesn't work, the interior that looks nice but kills your back....but its worth $50,000....because...its a BMW. See the badge? Sure it drives nicely enough, but then they made a v8 350hp SUV.. Why? And then then Mercedes Benz made a 310hp e500.. I'll stop. Sorry I hate three things in this world. BMW. Mercedes Benz. And all Apple products. By what you want though :psyduck:
hoofhearted4
hes talking about laptops though. you cant really build your own laptop from scratch, you have to go through another company and add what you want, which ends up being a crap ton of money anyways. if your determined on mac v alienware, go alienware. macs cant play games. not only are they not built for it, but they dont even support many games, except the cheap crappy ones any PC could play.
