SHOCKING BREAKTHROUGH!! UNOFFICIAL F3 PATCH RIVET CITY CRASH

I looked into the rivet city crash problem. Based on the topics I've seen revolving around this particular game error, none of them have mentioned the fallout 3 unofficial patch.

I thought about what mods could possably change game settings that would cause a clash in the console? Of course, the patch.

It appears that the Broken Steel branch of the patch was, indeed, the corrupted instigator of the Rivet City console crash.

I'm not exactly sure what in this branch of the mod changes, but I know for a fact that this was the cause of my rivet city crash problems.

If anyone is using this patch and is having crashes throughout the capital wasteland, resort to this topic. This could save you a lot of time.

Well, I hate to reign on your parade, but this is actually a fairly well known issue. It's just a minor issue that can be easily fixed with FO3Edit.

Have a look at the last post made by Prensa on that mod's comment topic found here: Link

Vaultboy87 - Hello!

As BlackRampage said, this is a fairly well known issue.

Sadly it's what gave the Uofficial Patch a bad name, a real shame as that patch is a brilliant collection of great fixes & otherwise completely stable.

There is even an "Unofficial" Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp floating around out there. That version partialy fixes the problem but not completely.

I posted a simple fix using FO3Edit that completely resolves the problem & it's posted in the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch Discussion section:

Look for:

Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp Rivet City area CTD fix

I've been pointing anyone I find with the problem there.

The problem is basically caused by Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp changing a few things in the Rivet City/Project Purity area, Fallout 3 just does not like some things being messed with in certain cells. All I did in the fix was revert those few changes back to the way they are in Broken Steel.

Thanks for reporting your findings though & trying to help! :)
