Chesto
re: title- My son and I play Oblivion on the same pc. He likes some things, I like others, re mods. Is there any way to have two or more installs of Oblivion on our hard drive, each with its own set of different mods? Showing my age here, but I managed to do similar with Red Baron 3D and all of its mods. Any suggestions appreciated. And to those of you having trouble with mods, persevere! patros
What you could do is create a batch file that renames the oblivion directory. So what you would do is start with your current installation of Oblivion under C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion (from memory). Make a copy of the folder and call it Oblivion.dad then create the following two batch files (just text files with the extension .bat instead of .txt) Son.bat@echo offif not exist "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.dad" ren "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.dad"ren "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.son" "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" Dad.bat@echo offif not exist "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.son" ren "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.son"ren "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.dad" "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" They're a bit crude but should do the trick. Place them on the desktop and just run the dad.bat before starting Oblivion or installing new mods, or your son can run son.bat before doing the same. Abramul
If you're using the same profile, it may be necessary to do something similar to the following folders:\Local Settings\Application Data\Oblivion\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion May also make sense to have the .bat start up the Oblivion Launcher. Chesto
patros and Abramul: greatly appreciated. Will play with both suggestions. Peace may, indeed, be re-established in my real world.
