amycus
Hi, I have done custom armor before, and usually start the weightpainting by simply pasting a pre-existing one to save time. When I tried to do that today the armor mesh jumps to a completely different place as soon as I paste the skin modifier, while the skeleton remains in its place. Anyone who knows what I'm doing wrong here?
Ghogiel
Probably the pivot centers or some transform. perhaps check\ adjust\match pivots. Alternatively you could copy weights with another tool like skin utilities or skin wrap. Edited August 14, 2011 by Ghogiel
amycus
Probably the pivot centers or some transform. perhaps check\ adjust\match pivots. I did suspect that it had something to do with the pivot, and changing its place to the world origin did make it stop jumping. Unfortnunately, the weight paint looks just like after it jumped before... I guess I can survive with this problem, it has happened a lot of times randomly with a mesh that refuses to cooperate. It's just frustrating and requires extra time. Will check out some other alternative tools as you suggested the next time I need to weightpaint armor again... Almost finished with the one I was working on before.
