Malinthebeast
My computer is not reading the Fallout 3 disk so I cant install it. I'm not given any kind of error message. I can hear the disk spinning and it being read, but the auto-run does not start and the disk does not show up in My Computer. My disk drive is okay as it reads other games and music CDs just fine. I've even tried starting the computer up in Safe Mode but it still does not show up.

ginnyfizz
How old is your disk, and is it damaged? Check for any cracks/scratches etc. Alternatively it could be your drive that's on death row. I had a similar experience with my optical drive on my old rig, luckily I was about to replace it anyway. The good news is that if it is that, a DVD ROM drive is one of the cheaper parts to replace. Malinthebeast
Yes it is a DVD drive, and no, my Fallout 3 disk is in excellent condition. This very same problem occurred with my Mass Effect 2 disk a few weeks ago but I have installed other games since then without any problems. phoneyLogic
Try the following:- install IsoBuster, you don't need to pay, the free functions are enough - start it, righ-click on the DVD and choose "Extract DVD <Image>" and save it as WhateverName.iso http://www.loaditup.de/files/645385_p56xx396pu.gif - then, after the image successfully has been created, make a right-click and extract it or mount it in a virtual drive and install it from HDD/Virtual Drive Why that?- Isobuster might be able to successfully read out the disc and correct errors the same time - if Isobuster fails, you know that 1) you need a new/cleaned DVD (there certainly is no better recovery software. I actually use this program for 8 years now and I bought the software because I just love it.) or 2) your drive is broken You also can try the DVD on another drive / computer to make sure, that the problem is either the drive or the dvd. blove
Sounds like Securom to me. Didn't Mass Effect 2 use it for the disk check as well?
