Difference in textures between character creation and ingame design?

Hi there,

I got some problems, which I don't know if they are problems.

My problem is, that all of my chars look really ill... So I started to get some mods for enhancing those issues...

Now I have some nice additions, but those chars still look ugly after leaving character creation. Although I found some really nice pics of chars here on tesnexus and googl - I'm wondering whats wrong here...

I don't know how to describe it further, so I added those 2 screens. The silver haired one was made during creation, the red haired one while being in prison. The skin also looks so dull, compared to screens of other chars...

It looks like the screenshot on the left was taken with HDR enabled and the one on the right was not.

HDR washes out texture details, which can make skin in Oblivion look better simply because you can't see the truth through the glow. xD

typically they use very high resolution skin textures - like, 4096x4096 or 2048x2048.

also, lighting effects it a lot.

I played around with HDR. Same result when actived or not...

Those screens are also taken with beautiful people mod, because I thought this mod would help me with this issue.

Like I said, the skin looks dull after leaving character creation. And it looks ill.

My graphic options are the highest to choose in the oblivion launcher.

The menu preview is, to say the least, terrible for previewing your character, and the jail cell you start in isn't that great either, nor the sewer gate later on. It's better to create the appearance of your character in a place with good, balanced light in multiple places (look for three-point lighting) rather than trust what the both the chargen and menu shows because you'll end up with details you couldn't see or the shape of the face isn't absolutely like you wanted it when seen from another angle. Find that place, go to console, type "showracemenu" and work on your character there. Once you're done, bring up console again and save there - If you hit OK on the chargen menu, your character's stats will reset and you'll be at level 1 again. Edited by ziitch

In the character creator the PC is turned to the window which gives off direct light to the PC's face, resulting in no shadows.

While in the inventory screen the light source is a bit to the left, which gives off small shadows and it looks like the face is wrinkled.

Well, that's my theory...
