new mouse, awkward usage...

Recommended Posts

Its a cyborg Rat7. Looks ridiculous but it fits my hand very nicely and has very nice features. But it is drastically different form my old mouse.

How are you getting on with it? I ordered one today.

Sorry it took me so long to get to back to you.. its actually really nice once I got used to it. It comes with a ton of customizable features which are all to my surprise actually functional and quite handy. Took me about two days of use to find the correct setup with it for me, but once I did I got used to it even quicker. Also the game I was trying to play with it (BFBC2) is quite demanding in terms of how fast you need to aim to kill the other player before he kills you. And I found that playing a much more layed back game (like TF2 for example) really helped me get used to it very quickly.

Bottom line, it will be annoying at first, but give it time and keep playing with all the customizations and options and it will become amazing. Just watch. I don't know how I played any games and did well without this mouse.

Still can't play most games at 5600 DPI though. Just to insanely quick. Playing at 3800 DPI. Which reminds me if you go on the rat 7 homepage they have a software file you can download for free which lets you customize all digital things in the mouse. You can set up three different profiles which are quickly changeable by hitting a button on the mouse, and you can set up to four easily changeable DPI speeds of anything from 0 to 5600. Those are easily changeable as well in game, with just the press of a button.

Im happy with it. :D

Mine arrived today and I've been playing with it this evening, I'm slowly getting used to it. I think the problem is I've got used to a cheap low DPI mouse and so I'm moving this one way too much even on the lowest setting, it does feel great when it's set up right though, the "pinky rest" is a great idea.

I ordered one of these as well, it should be here today.

that is an awesome keyboard, i might buy it over the G110...same price but i like yours! lol hmmmmm. lots of pondering to do.

The local courier has it according to their tracking thing so I'll let you know how I get on with it later.

Edit: Got it, it's bigger than I thought. It lights up like a Christmas tree when you put it into gaming mode, also in that gaming mode it disables the Windows key which is a godsend. The extra keys down the sides might come in handy but they are too far away to be used quickly, the main keys themselves have quite a bit of travel and that will take some getting used to. The touch panel at the back is very good, it's like something from Star Trek. :D

Apologies for the noise on the second pick, the flash would have defeated the point of the picture.

Nice stuff jim looks awesome! Not one for fancy lights on computers or such but it does look neat. How much did it cost? I am using a logitech pro. It has illuminated keys, and thats about it. The buttons are easy to press too and not loud so no clicking all night long.. It was normally $100 but I got it on sale for $50.

You should post a small review of the keyboard, I want an actual gaming keyboard but I am afraid I will be overpaying for something that looks nice but has no functionality other than gimmicks.

The lighting is very highly customisable. The keyboard has two modes, a normal mode for everyday use and a gaming mode. When in normal mode the keyboard is all one colour, you can change that colour and vary the brightness but that's it. In gaming mode you can vary the colours of parts of the keyboard, the WASD keys, the arrow keys for example, if you don't want to do that then they can be left as one colour.

$95 at todays exchange rates, we get robbed here so it could probably be found cheaper on that side of the pond. I have an unhealthy obsession with lights, my PC at times looks like the Vegas Strip. If you're not really into the whole light thing then I dare say you could find something a lot cheaper. It does have a USB port which is handy for USB sticks and the like, being able to feed your audio through it is good as well, it's allowed me to spread the speakers out. I would imagine the extra keys would be handy for MMOs as well.
