How much gear do you carry and why?

I'm starting to think some of you are going to really like my Mad Science mod :P one of the things I just completed is a powered exoskeletal frame...massively increases your strength and carry capacity. like bringing a strength 5 player up to about 500lbs of potential carryweight. downside (since everything must have one) is that it reduces your agility by 3 points. so its intended to be used for travel and for use in non-vats combat.

heh, I spend WAY too much time overencumbered. I usually make a metaphorical bee-line for the Long Haul perk :P

probably due to my habit of collecting the (currently) useless junk like sensor modules and conductors...

rest assured I will find many uses for the crap that has no practical use anymore (due to the missing custom weapons they left off from Fallout 3)

I like to carry one machine gun, shotgun, sniperrifle, handgun, and a big gun like a gatling and assign them to the shortcut keys to their designated spots with handgun in the top, shotgun on the right, machine gun on left, and sniper rifle either corner top right or on hte bottom square depending if I'm carring something like a flamer or gatlingun or not. :D Edited by 7vincent7black7

I only carry what I could carry irl. Makin' it realistic to boost the game experience and make it a little more difficult, because you have to think in advance what to carry for each situation etc.

Personally, whenever I leave Lucky38 I have ~40-50 lbs of equipment so that I can pick up as much as possible when I'm out exploring. I usually only have Maria and maybe another small gun, a shovel, light armor (Vault), a suit and a hat that gives extra barter, a doctor's kit, some small health food items, and several unique misc weight items.

Weapons -

Pinpoint (Hunting rifle from Hidden Underground Hideout)

That Gun

Ammo -

What ever I find and need as it has no weight

Armor -

Black Hood (a remake of Veronicas Hood so I dont have to use Sniper Beret)

Dragon Armor (Black)

DA Balaclava (Black)

DA Gas Mask with Crimson eyes (to help with them pesky Rads)

Equipment -

Backpack

4D Storage Device

Meds -

Only use Rad-x, Rad-a-Way and Stims

I do carry any I can find as they dont have weight and sell them to the Fiends

in this play through.

This means im carrying around 120lbs from my 500lb limit (approx)

I'm always at the limit of my 525lb carrying capacity. I always have as many of a weapon or armour as I can for repairs, lots of food, and I'm always armed to the teeth with weapons and ammo, with the rest filled in with food and items I wish to sell. (I play in hardcore mode.)

This loadout is for the character I usually play on, not my most powerful.

Weapons:

My Hunting Rifle. (Can't find a friggin' scope!)

.44 Magnum Revolver M (AWOP)

Caravan Shotgun M (My companion uses the lever-action)

Assault Rifle (Fallout 3 version, from Project Nevada.)

.10mm SMG

Full-condition Machete Gladius

85% condition Super-sledge, for all the tougher nuts.

A variety of throwing weapons, and the several weapons I intend to sell.

Apparel:

Combat Armor, Reinforced Mk. 2

Dirty Pre-War businesswear. (Being in Combat armor in a casino doesn't seem right to me.)

Vault suit. (backup suit, incase everything else gets shot to hell.)

several mod items such as the SCAV

Aid probably makes up a good third-half the weight. I stockpile as much food, water and helpful chems as I can.

Misc: Nothing much, mostly bullet cases and quest items/

Ammo:

250 .308 JSP Hand-Loads for the hunting rifle.

120 .44 JSP hand-loads for the .44 magnum

428 .20 gauge rounds for the caravan shotgun. (100 for me, the rest for when my companion is out of ammo.)

i generally carry around 2000 pounds on my char at any givven time. granted it makes things difficult cuz i have to walk everywhere. Although this gives me plenty of time to take aim on any enemy targets i run across. While playing hardcore mode with max difficulty is indeed very hard i cant pass up grabbing anything i can use for the long journey. My trust weapons i primarily whip out to use out of the hundreds i have are: this machine, 9mm, mercenary grenade rifle and a baseball bat.. all the rest is whatever i find lol :)

I carry a melee weapon (usually a sword), a pistol or SMG and a rifle. Currently, my character has the M9 Samurai Edge, the AK103 (AlexScorpion) and a Katana. I don't know which mod it came from (Doll House?) but it works wonders on Nightkin and ghouls.

For armor, I've got a black Tactical outfit from TGs Armor Collection, a black beret w/ a skull badge from HDT and a backpack from BlackWolfBackpacks New Vegas. I also keep a gas mask for high-radiation areas.

For meds and food and such, I carry 20 Purified Waters, with 75+ Stimpaks, 10 Super Stimpaks, and assorted food. I also have Rad-X and RadAway. And for everything else, I carry supplies to create stuff. After perks, my character can carry 350 lb at any time, and I never go under 150.

As for "why" my character carries it, it's so I can kill things with weapons, keep myself from getting killed with meds and armor and create those things with misc items.

I also have some backed up saves with my Hardcore character, but it's been so long since I've played with that one that I don't remember what gear it has.
