how do i know what my motherboard is?

i thought it would say in the BIOS but it didnt, unless i didnt look in the right place lol...is the only way i can know is by taking it apart? just curious because my moms PC needs an upgrade bad, at least some more RAM, possibly a new CPU, but i need to know her motherboard so i know what kind of RAM she can use and stuff

Possible methods:

 

1) Belarc Advisor / CPUZ / SIW will all read your system and tell you what the motherboard is.

 

2) Reboot and write down the displayed BIOS string, enter it in google and cross your fingers.

 

3) Open the case and get a vacuum cleaner and torch.

Get AIDA64 (formally Everest) : http://www.lavalys.com/support/downloads/

 

There's a free trial you can download, it shows you everything about your computer :) The paid version can actually show you your Windows CD key and a few other things :) Also has benchmarks to test the computer. Actually got a license myself, awesome program.

thank you, that told me exactly what i need to know! basically if i needed to upgrade my moms PC id have to rebuild a lot of it. the board can only support 2gb of RAM which is just sad....shes running 1gb of RAM right now ddr2 (333mhz) with an intel Celeron 1.8ghz 1 core. unfortunately i know they dont have the extra money to do any upgrades at the moment...but as long as they stop complaining that their PC is so slow (which it is lol)
