hoofhearted4
i thought it would say in the BIOS but it didnt, unless i didnt look in the right place lol...is the only way i can know is by taking it apart? just curious because my moms PC needs an upgrade bad, at least some more RAM, possibly a new CPU, but i need to know her motherboard so i know what kind of RAM she can use and stuff thanks all
MarkInMKUK
Possible methods: 1) Belarc Advisor / CPUZ / SIW will all read your system and tell you what the motherboard is. 2) Reboot and write down the displayed BIOS string, enter it in google and cross your fingers. 3) Open the case and get a vacuum cleaner and torch. Illiad86
Get AIDA64 (formally Everest) : http://www.lavalys.com/support/downloads/ There's a free trial you can download, it shows you everything about your computer :) The paid version can actually show you your Windows CD key and a few other things :) Also has benchmarks to test the computer. Actually got a license myself, awesome program. This is what it shows for my motherboard:Field ValueMotherboard Properties Motherboard ID 07/09/2010-RX780-SB710-7A66AG0KC-00Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 Front Side Bus Properties Bus Type AMD K10Real Clock 200 MHzEffective Clock 200 MHzHyperTransport Clock 2000 MHzNorth Bridge Clock 2000 MHz Memory Bus Properties Bus Type Unganged Dual DDR3 SDRAMBus Width 128-bitDRAM:FSB Ratio 24:6Real Clock 800 MHz (DDR)Effective Clock 1600 MHzBandwidth 25600 MB/s Motherboard Physical Info CPU Sockets/Slots 1 Socket AM3Expansion Slots 2 PCI, 4 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16Integrated Devices Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394Form Factor ATXMotherboard Size 210 mm x 300 mmMotherboard Chipset AMD770Extra Features DualBIOS, Easy Energy Saver Motherboard Manufacturer Company Name Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.Product Information http://www.giga-byte.com/products/main.aspx?s=42BIOS Download http://www.giga-byte.com/support-downloads/download-center.aspxDriver Update http://driveragent.com?ref=59BIOS Upgrades http://www.esupport.com/biosagent/index.cfm?refererid=40 pretty neat :) Edited September 3, 2011 by Illiad86
hoofhearted4
thank you, that told me exactly what i need to know! basically if i needed to upgrade my moms PC id have to rebuild a lot of it. the board can only support 2gb of RAM which is just sad....shes running 1gb of RAM right now ddr2 (333mhz) with an intel Celeron 1.8ghz 1 core. unfortunately i know they dont have the extra money to do any upgrades at the moment...but as long as they stop complaining that their PC is so slow (which it is lol)
