Custom race NPC Companion

Sorry, i know probably will be more topics on that. But I just need some clarification.

 

I read I need Wrye Bash to convert the custom race .esp (in my case is Abriael Human Revamped: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25524) in an .esm. Than I have to open CS and create my companion with Oblivion.esm, CM partner.esp and CM partner.esm, and the Abriael Race.esm selected. When I save, I should have an .esm file (why ?? Don't I should have an .esp like everytime ??). Than I should use Wrye Bash to convert my companion .esm in an .esp ....

 

Is it right ? There's nothing I can do to simplify the process ? I already have the .esp, of course, of Abriael race and meshes and textures from the .zip I downloaded.

 

I wish to ask before because I had yet trouble creating a mod with custom races...

Let me understand well: so, if I set the Abriael race .esp as active plugin in CS I can create my companion directly modifing the race esp ? And this will not conflict anything ?

Yes, but make sure to check oblivion and cm partners esm also. I also check cm partners esp, but I don't know if that's needed, just being on the safe side. Duplicate a cm based NPC, to avoid having to add in the factions and stuff that the script requires.

 

I got over a dozen partners through an esp and have no complications.
