Androyddd
Am I the only one that notices the conspicuous lack of mods to improve Novac?
woosle12
^Agreed, I considered doing something about that when i've finished my current stuff.

Just add any suggestions to the VivaNV mod and I'll fold them into the main mods as well as leaving them individually (assuming they don't have any dependencies on other mods for plots or resources) so you can apply them in a modular fashion (pick and choose). I'll work them in as I go along (unless of course they don't fit the character of the game.
Degby1
I've thought about a public transportation service . Bus lines going to and from- -Line 1. Goodsprings to Novac (Via Primm and Nipton)-Line 2. Nipton to North Vegas (Via Freeside, and Novac)-Line 3. Mojave Outpost to 188 Trade Post (Via Primm and Repconn HQ)-Line 4. Jacobstown to Freeside (Via Westside)-Line 5. Nipton to the Strip (Via Freeside, Camp McCarran and Primm)-Line 6. Cottonwood Cove to Freeside (Via Boulder City)-Line 7. Westside to Boulder City (Via Freeside and 188 Trade Post)-Line 8. Westside to Goodsprings (Via Spring Mt Park and Sloan)-Line 9. Jacobstown to Cottonwood Cove (Via Westside, Freeside, Aerotech, 188 Trade Post and Novac)-Line 10. Mojave Outpost to the Strip (Via Primm, Goodsprings, Camp McCarran, Westside) As a player you would have to invest caps into repairs, wages, refurbish a building to become a bus depot (New Vegas Steel area), security, gather raw materials, and handle recruitment and training. In an Independent Vegas ending the quests would differ from an NCR ending in terms of manpower or House, in terms of construction. I'm thinking of this a post Hoover Dam idea, using a mod such as CAGE. Edited January 26, 2015 by Narmz

In an Independent Vegas ending the quests would differ from an NCR ending in terms of manpower or House, in terms of construction. I'm thinking of this a post Hoover Dam idea, using a mod such as CAGE. I think for most endings it wouldn't be particularly lore friendly. We don't see many working pre-war vehicles in FONV, except the monorail and vertibirds (like bear force 1 captured from the NCR/Enclave war). In FO3 M.A.R.Go.T (the presidential monorail) is still functional and the enclave has vertibirds. So that's the lore based framework your working in, they'r rarity implies they would be used for high value missions (such as bear force one) instead of public transport. A good parallel is the American Civil War, where the railroad was critical in moving supplies and troops quickly to the front lines. Lets take, for example, the NCR. If they had buses it would be a huge advantage over the legion, they could move troops and large amounts of equipment very quickly compared to legion forces on foot. An advantage like that would allow them to quickly reinforce positions, prepare and equip for tactical assaults etc etc. So long story short, working/salvaged pre-war vehicles are *very* rare, and I doubt public transportation is a priority for any faction. I have been working on wagons/carts though, for a low tech version of both caravans, stage coaches & trains; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8O4VAhw58w&list=UUhKTr5RPpqZOdIc4zt_StGw I have been able to intergrate a col mesh, so that you can ride on the wagon, although I havn't quite figured out a way to keep NPCs on it....yet. And I think I'v figured out a way to implement a team of brahiminm, which would be essential for large wagons, or pulling a box car on rails. These are primarily for my DIY caravan mod and a requested railroad mod, but they will also show up in the Viva New Vegas mods I'm working on (independent, NCR and House faction endings). Degby1
I have to agree to disagree, although they are rare, the amount of resources gathered from all over the Mojave could see a limited production run. If not on the buses, then certainly on the trains. With Big Mt, Saturnite Alloy's could be implemented in the production. The Mojave Outpost has a wide array of trucks and buses from before the war, Freeside also, with enough for a limited prodcution run. But yeah the predominate use in the early stages would be for military purposes, which would suit an NCR or Independent ending. a House ending could also, making use of the Westside Militia and training them into a Reserve Corps of sorts. Thats my 2 cents anyways, that Brahim Golf Cart you made would be ideal for independent traders and smaller firms like Happy Trails, I'm surprised they didnt have these already. Crimson Caravan and Gun Runners would definitely have these plus the refurbished buses and trucks. Edited January 27, 2015 by Narmz

What's the status of this anyway? And what are u looking to implement? I've just started production on a New Vegas mod, using the Repconn Launch Site as a base, were you looking to this location as well?

I wasn't making an argument against the technological feasibility of vehicles, rather the use of them as public transport (when they are such a rare and valuable commodity). From my previous post; So long story short, working/salvaged pre-war vehicles are *very* rare, and I doubt public transportation is a priority for any faction. If your looking for opinions in regard to your post of a "public transportation service"; I don't think you'll see a public bus line in anything near a canonical fallout setting. Partly because of the framework for the games lore, but also because common sense would dictate the prioritization of the vehicle's use. However, a lot of modders work outside the game's lore or create their own lore, which can be just as compelling (or more) then the canon setting. What's the status of this anyway? And what are u looking to implement? I believe I addressed those questions when you asked in the Ind NV thread, around post 1402. I've just started production on a New Vegas mod, using the Repconn Launch Site as a base, were you looking to this location as well? Some suggestions have been made in re: the aftermath of Repconn, you can find them by a keyword search in the thread.
