Dark Souls

im taking a break right now and playing FF13 (im near the end, so its hard to just stop, even for Dark Souls)

FF13 is the epitome of disappointment in what Square Enix has become for me. FF3 was probably one of my favorite games ever, and that was two dimensional. I had such high hopes for FF13, too. But it really was not what I had expected. The battle system is cool, but gets boring. I ended up modding my gamesave and giving myself spectacular equips and stats, and maxing ATB Bars. I preceded to skip past enemies and kill bosses standing in my way, JUST SO I COULD FINISH THE GAME. I just wanted to be done with it. But no- apparently you can't have more than 6 ATB Bars, so if I unlocked another one, the game would freeze during battle. Being too lazy to fix my game save, I just said, fudge this, and decided I was done with the game. But yeah. Sorry to get so off topic. Good luck beating it though.

lol well see im not one of those long time FF fans. my friend told me to by X-2 (which when we saw the games he though must have been XII) so i bought FFXII, didnt really like it at first, then went back to it and loved it. never beat it (though i still have it sooo maybe some day) so i bought FF13...i have to say i do like FF12 better i like the open worldness, the way you get new abilities with the LP system, but i like FF13 a lot....i just kinda found out that im near the end of FF13, but there is still a long way to go in grinding and mission and stuff (and i cant just skip that) so it might be awhile before i actually finish it. i went back to Dark Souls last night andd im enjoying it so ya.

Dark Souls is so much harder than Demon's Souls. The only truly hard part of Demon's Souls was the Maneater fight, but this game is just ridiculous. I'm having a bunch of fun, though. I may buy the 400 page hardcover guide since it's fairly cheap and the wikis are no good yet. I know the whole point of the game is to explore, but sometimes it's frustrating which makes it less enjoyable.

well im not that far in, but so far its hard to say. i had never played Demons Souls, i might say its hard, having played DS this game isnt that hard yet. ive beaten the first two bosses, 1st try (im not counting those times i didnt have my mace lol) without even taking damage....have i died a lot? o ya. sometimes i just rush in and died, sometimes they legit beat me. the Black Knight in this game are stronger then the Blue Eyes in DS. they are around Red Eyes level....but im taking it slow. im at the dragon

and go the drake sword [\spoiler] and ive kind of just been grinding a little, getting used the the game before i press on....lol at first i went down the mountain instead of up and was facing rly high lvl guys, ghosts you cant hit and a valley of drakes that i ran through, picked up a bunch of loot and then ended up dieing at the dead end, now that was hard. once i went up the mountain like i should have, it was a little easier.

but ya, for someone whos already played DS, its just a matter of getting used to the new lvls and the new enemies and such so far. but im sure it will get harder. for all those who are new to it completely, it really is a unique game, like nothing out there, so its gunna be hard getting used to the play style and nto hack and slash everything.

I bought both Dragon Souls and Dark Souls, the first was 20$ rare. Funny enought they had it in stock, one through out the entire store chain :teehee: Atleast in my City. Witch there are several stores around to choose from.

Meh not to impressed with the first one, To dark and grim looking, Hopefully Dark Souls will be different.

But if you have a map then you're less likely to explore the maps and find hidden treasure. And I like there's no map. Adds to the difficulty keeps you constantly thinking about what you're going to run into and go through next. That is, when you're not busy thinking about how you're going to kill your current enemies :P

it doesnt need a map. the levels for the most part are pretty straight forward. you cant exactly get lost (except maybe in 2-2 lol, actually took me awhile to learn all the tunnels)

like i said thor, if you wanna do a quick run through, so you can see the game in all its glory, just lmk, ill start a guy and do a run through with you. youll die a lot less for sure, and like i said, youll just be able to see the game at least one play through. without too much frustration.

EDIT: can anyone else summon anyone? me and a friend tried and i cant see his sign. hes lvl 20 and im 22. we are in an area i havent done (which would follow the rules from DS) and im a human, hes not...and yea i dont see anything. do we both have to be human? it says hollows cannot conducts summons. i figured it means hollows cant summon....lmk what u guys find...

EDITEDIT: done a little research, and on purpose, they made it near impossible to summon or get summoned by friends like you could in Demons Souls. its all based on local area networks and ping and whatnot. dont know really the specifics, but dont count on you and a friend playing Dark Souls together. online is still there, but even then, you can have your soul sign down all day and not get summoned, or always be in body form and nvr find a soul sign....really lame...this really only adds one play through to Dark Souls :/

what?

i gotta say, honestly. im kinda bored with Dark Souls. its just not grabbing me like Demons Souls did. maybe its cause i know i cant coop? though my first time through on Demons Souls i didnt coop either but maybe its cause im soo used to cooping now that playing solo is boring to me, idk. its not thats its "too" hard. ya im dieing i wont lie. not a lot, but death has happened. idk, i really dont. i find myself putting the controller down a lot and going on the PC for 20-30 minutes and then going back to Dark Souls for maybe 10 and repeating this for a while..there are a lot of stupid things in Dark Souls that rly take points from the game, small things yes, but the small things are what matter. and of course the big thing being the coop.

idk. im really dissappointed. not so much in the game (though im not over amazed with joy or anything) just in the fact im not enjoying it like i thought i would, and again i think a large part has to do with the no coop thing. i mean ya there is coop, i can play with strangers (though i hear its hard for even that to occur) but i rly was looking forward to playing with friends.

i just dont feel like playing Dark Souls. i hate to say it but, imo, they dropped the ball on it. :/
