HelloJello
To keep it short and coherent: Whenever I try and load Oblivion, it crashes before even getting to the load screen. With all mods disabled, the game will boot up just fine. I can start a new game (although I can't load any of my save files because they rely on different mod master files). I thought it was probably an issue with a specific mod or at least my load order, but I've found that even with just Shivering Isles or any of the other DLC loaded, it will still crash. I was debating whether this thread should go in Tech Support or Mod Troubleshooting, but as the DLC are obviously official parts of the game, I am worried something game-related may be amiss. I have tried: 1. Uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn't help. 2. Deleting my oblivion.ini file in Documents. 3. Repatching. 4. Removing save files. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I feel like it's probably just a basic problem, but I am probably overlooking something obvious.
HeyYou
Missing master crash. One of the mods you are trying to load is dependent on a mod that you don't have. Post your load list please.
bben46
Just disabling a mod or deleting the esp does not completely remove a mod. It still leaves behind bits and pieces in the mesh and texture folders that can cause problems. Here is a procedure to return to a completely clean version of the game - No mods or anything associated with the mods will be left behind. However, it will include any Official patches. (but Not the unofficial patches as they are actually mods and not true patches) If needed it can be easily reversed to put you back exactly where you were before doing it.
