loveme4whoiam
Watching the TV today, i suddenly heard the words "Ladies and gentlemen, we've got him." With that, Saddam Hussien's capture was announced to the world. So, what does everyone feel about this? His capture signifies the end of his reign of terror in Iraq, and hopefully (for American troops statinoed there) the end of organised resistance in that country. A DNA test carried out by US Army medical staff has apparently confirmed that he is indeed the real deal and not a double, and is talking freely and co-operatively. Now, i do not want to be one to table conspriacy theories, and i will refrain from doing so until i have further information on the subject. But this is from the man who said he would fight until the last man fell (or words to that effect). So, what is everyones take on it?
Switch
So? Of course he said things like that. Made him sound good... personally I'm not surprised by it. Cowering in a hole near his hometown, sounds about right to me :P oh and yes I know everyone's going to be saying it's an american set up... :P let the stupidity commense. And yes, hopefully this will be the end to at least some of the organised resistance. But I daresay they'll still have problems...
loveme4whoiam
Look, i'm not trying to be a conspriacy nut... really, i'm not. I just hope they actually get some decent information are about where he's hidden all those weapons of mass destruction ;) Okay now, seriously, no more. I promise. Lets just be thankful they caught him.

Dr. Corbett
Well, here's what I posted at another forum. PWNED! But I have more to say than that. Good job to everyone! It seems that he had more brains than his children and didn't try to go out fighting.
Feanor11
It seems that he had more brains than his children and didn't try to go out fighting. I guess he'll have to get used to a nice cell at the Hague. I give the US forces credit, though. One trigger happy soldier and Saddam would be dead. That'd be an embarasment(sp) considering he didn't put up a fight.
Iluventi
It's strange really...America and it's allies didn't go into Iraq to capture Saddam..or free it's people, they went to find WMD...which haven't been found. Now it is either an incredible change of policy or wasn't freeing the Iraqi people not really the thing America went for...As for terrorists...I think they'd (American govt./army etc) would be better off going back to afghanistan or something, to try and find Bin Laden....he's the real threat, not some guy, hiding in a "spider hole". Ilu.Shouldn't this be in the Debates forum?
wesaynothin
Now that they have captured Saddam, what are they going to do with him? You can't really just throw a man like that into a prison cell. He was the leader of a country who's history dates back for centuries. He tortured and killed many, but he also saw that the Iraqi people had a good health system. Iraqi literacy is (I think...) higher than U.S. Literacy. He's been a savior and a menace. What is the U.S. actually going to do with him?

What is the U.S. actually going to do with him?mmm, I've read about that too, I see that they also have..had the highest quality universities in the world. Unfortunately only people who agreed with his regime would be allowed to go to those uni's...so hmmm, It kind of evens out
Arkayan
As i see it there is still no shortage of people who hate wester society left in Iraq & his capture will not make much difference to the conflicts in Iraq, infact in the short term me thinks his loyalists will go nuts. But it is good that he is captured now and cant do anymore damage to the stability of the country.
