dthumb
The websites are aeriagames.com and blender.org I first found out about this as I was playing an MMO from aeria games called eden eternal. I thought it was just a server update but 3 days later I still cannot connect to the game servers or enter their website, same with blender.org. Other sites work fine e.g. Nexus, youtube, hotmail, pixologic, gamefaqs, IGN, facebook... these are what I commonly visit. I tried hooking the cable directly to the modem thats how I found out the router is the cause, but me hogging the bandwith from 3 other users is not a permanent solution. My best guess is it's some kind of firewall that I cant workaround with my lack of network knowledge  .edit:BTW the router is a CISCO wrt120n and this never happened before... any advice or help? HeyYou
Need to be able to log on to the router, and remove those sites from the blocked list, or, reduce security settings. (i would be curious how they got there in the first place.) If there is a button the the back of the router to reset it to factory defaults, use that. If there is a custom configuration on the router, better have a chat with whomever put it there FIRST, before you do anything.
dthumb
Blocked list is empty, i did the reset on the back of the router, switched off router firewall, turned on dmz, updated firmware... none of them worked. Odd thing is, everything is in default mode before and after the problems started. I tried the MTU thing checking pings, problem is the sites keep timing out with the router so I can't test properly. Thanks for the tip though, I'll try checking the other PCs setting tomorrow to see if they have the same settings. HeyYou
Try doing a trace on it, and see if it is indeed dying at the router. Open a command prompt and type in: tracert sitename.extension or, resolve it to an IP address, and use that. Either will work. See where the connection croaks. Thor.
Or last call use a proxy. It could be your isp blocking that certain site.I would call in and ask them why are they blocking it in the first place. Also it can be region locked, some sites won't let you in because its only designated for that region. maybe you should find a proxy site like google proxy to bypass the block. Or even google it in general to find a backdoor so to speak. Or some parts of the site could be down for maintenance and there is another way in. I had that happen with the nexus a few times trying to get into the forums when the Oblivion server was under maitenance. I had to use one of the other servers like the Fallout or Dragon age ones to get back into the forums. Edited September 13, 2011 by Thor.
dthumb
edit: 1st off, I'm sorry for wasting your time guys. The darn thing suddenly started working again just 10 minutes ago. At the exact moment of the trace test, it stopped timing out. I believe it's solved... for now. But if it comes back, (and I know it will eventually) ill show you those tests. It seems to be an issue with wireless G-Link routers that miraculously disappears after a few days, then comes back in a few months.

Thanks for the tip though, I'll try checking the other PCs setting tomorrow to see if they have the same settings. I have the same problem and tried all the above. My router is the Netgear WPN824V2, and have tried without success accessing using IE9, Android or Safari when going thru the router via a cable or wi-fi. When I did a tracert, it times out after 12 hops or so. When I tracert from work, the last 8 hops or so goes thru the atlas.cogentco.com domain which I believe is where my home router is timing out. Any ideas why my router is timing out thru this domain?
