eend123
First of all, please ignore the many grammar mistakes I'll probably make. It seems that I just screwed up some horse textures. I don't remember deleting any meshes/textures, I just (manually) added a couple of mods earlier today. (including meshes/textures, copy datafolder -> overwrite). Looks like something went wrong, because about an hour ago I needed my horse and then I saw the saddle was gone. Also my companion Vilja's horse Bruse, always been a white horse, lost it's entire body and his head became pink: I deleted all of the mods I downloaded today (by using OBMM) butit doesn't help. Anybody any idea whats going on here and how I can fix it? (please don't say "re-install Oblivion... which means I should also re-download and re-install most of the mods...") Tnx in advance. Keirgarth
Did any of the mods that you recently installed have anything to do with horses, meshes or textures? If so you might have to use another mod to find what is missing and then see what went wrong. Refscope is one such mod that will allow you to target Vilja's horse and see what it says about missing textures or meshes. This will give you some sort of clue what it is looking for anyways and what mod is asking for it. As for reinstalling mods, I have always been one to save my downloads so that if something went wrong I would have them available to reinstall in case I needed to. Just a thought for the future :)

Unfortunately I didn't only add some mods, I also removed several non-interesting mods with OBMM, and offcourse I have no idea which mods. Looks like I've been a little bit careless Anyway, I tried refscope but don't really get a clue about whats wrong, when I activate the horse I can read some information about it, it refers to em_Vilja1.esp, which I offcourse have active. It doesn't say anything about missing textures. Check and see if you have a data folder in your data folder....... Check, no I don't. There is a folder called LSData, but it's there for more than a week and didn't cause any troubles before. MShoap13
Try reinstalling the companion mod. You may have unknowingly replaced a texture from it with a texture from one of the mods you removed. Then, when you removed said mod(s) the replacement texture got deleted. I copied Vilja into the datafolder again, esp and bsa, but it didn't help. Edited September 16, 2011 by eend123
bben46
If you have OBMM, it keeps a list of all mods that were active for each save, find a save in OBMM that is before you deleted those mods to find what they were. Try putting them back. One of the drawbacks to OBMM is that it does not keep track of what meshes and textures were installed by which mod. And when a second mod overwrites those meshes and textures and is then removed - those meshes and textures are removed as OBMM thinks they are only used in the second mod.

I'm not so used to OBMM. I'll give it a try! Edited September 16, 2011 by eend123
SavageArtistry
You could also just find some mod with horses in it and dump the meshes and textures into the correct folders to make up for missing ones. Of course this may not be the right option for you. This approach requires knowing the file paths you'd need to use and you'd probably have to check your installed mods to make sure that anything referencing horses doesn't change the default file path. Since I mostly overwrite savegames instead of creating new ones OBMM might not find the mods included in the "lost" saves, so I started searching my internet history to see which mods I downloaded but I'm not really able to find anything new. You could also just find some mod with horses in it and dump the meshes and textures into the correct folders to make up for missing ones. Of course this may not be the right option for you. Thought about this earlier today andI downloaded several horse mods (since it's no problem for me to take another one) but that's not solving the "Vilja's horse problem", so added the complete Vilja mod to mydata folder for a second time whitout succes. No idea where her horses Meshes/Textures are stored, since the mod comes with just a .esp and .bsa file, not with the regular meshes/textures folders and an esp. Can I eventually delete and re-install vanilla Oblivion without losing my mods/saves? Edited September 16, 2011 by eend123
