zelazko
I installed some mod and it is causing that some npcs are missing voices. For example prisoner in Imperial Prison who first start talking to us at the very beginning of the game is missing the voice output. The picture I uploaded shows all the mods I have installed. I suspect that either Elsewyr, Map Maker Overhual, Unique Landscapes Compilation, Thieves Arsenal or Sounds of Cyrrodil maybe causing this problem - these are the last mods I installed. Anyone has any idea what mods can cause some NPCs to miss their voices/dubbing? Maybe I should change the loading order of esp and esm files (mods)? Hickory
Custom races cause Valen Dreth to lose voice unless you have the UOP installed. Since you have, it may be a load order issue, or that you require a Bashed Patch.
zelazko
I have Wrye Bash installed is that equivalent with Bashed Patch? What loading order should I use? And what UOP stands for? Edited September 16, 2011 by zelazko
Keirgarth
UOP is "Unofficial Oblivion Patch". Having Wrye Bash installed is one thing, having a bashed patch is the process you go through in Wrye Bash to consolidate mods and make them work better together. You do this by right clicking on the file bashed_patch in Wrye Bash and choosing to bash the patch. As for the load order, most folks use BOSS to sort the load order. BOSS stands for Better Oblivion Sorting Software. You can find it by searching TESNexus for it and then install and run it. :)

zelazko
I did what you told me. It improved game a bit. Some NPC still miss voices, but some dubbing is restored. I can hardly believe those mods alone are responsible for the missing dubbing, but I will give it a try. Storm Raven
zelazko, This may not apply to your situation directly, it sounds as though it is a load order issue, especially if you have the Unofficial Oblivion Patch installed. However I found much to my dismay that when my old Pentium was really pushing its limits the sound card, a Creative Sound Blasterwould occasionally drop out. That meant it was time for me to save the game and reboot! I would then continue wherever I left off in the games. My understanding at the time was that memory and processing power were priorities over sound and I was playing Morrowind which was very processor intensive. There were times that I had to remove the number of mods running. If there are other people who can explain this situation in more detail I would appreciate it. It happened all the time in Morrowind, where I would get lost for hours… LOL Storm Raven 8)

The guide states 'Do clean the official DLC", but these dirty edits (mostly identical records and deleted records) would not cause loss of voice. This is almost certainly either a load order or mod conflict, maybe exacerbated by not having a Bashed Patch, if that is the case.
Storm Raven
Hickory, I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with you, the official DLC's do need to be cleaned. However I'm going to ask Ben (bben46), to look at this because he knows more about this stuff than anyone else I know. No Doubt, he will have a better explanation than I will… Thanks, Storm Raven 8)
bben46
Any mod that adds or changes voices can affect the vanilla voices through overwriting. For those unfamiliar with how this works, the overwriting is done each time the game is started, and the original files stored in the bsa files are never touched. The bsa files are loaded first each time you start the game, and then mods overwrite specific vaniilla files. If the mod file that is doing the overwriting is completely removed, including the new voice files, then the vanilla voices will be used again.
