Mcsalmon
Hello, [X] FalloutNV.esm[X] Project Nevada - Core.esm[X] Project Nevada - Equipment.esm[X] AWorldOfPain(Preview).esm[X] HonestHearts.esm[X] OldWorldBlues.esm[X] LonesomeRoad.esm[X] DeadMoney.esm[X] Project Nevada - Rebalance.esp[X] Project Nevada - Cyberware.esp[X] NewVegasBounties.esp[X] NewVegasBountiesII.esp[X] CONELRAD 640-1240.esp[X] NVWillow.esp[X] dD - Enhanced Blood Main NV.esp[X] F3NVProjectRealityMkIv3.esp I have the above mods but I am find this game too easy on the Very Hard setting. I think the main issue is the companions. Currently I have Willow, Boone and ED-E. The problem I am finding is that they are too OP considering they can take 50x more damage than you before they are knocked unconscious. This cancels out the intended difficulty increase from the listed mods. So some of you might say, well do it without companions then! Well the problem then is that half the creatures can kill in 2-4 hits and the other half can kill in 1-hit. Also weapons, barring the Anti-Material Rifle do very little damage! I am level 21 with a Combat Shotgun (fully repaired) and it still takes 4-5 shots to the head or more on most creatures. I'm think of restarting my playthrough but with perhaps one companion this time, probably Willow, and thoughts? Thanks
marharth
There is a mod that makes companions weaker, not sure what its called. You could also play on hardcore mode and have perm death for your companions as well as other survival things that would make the game a lot harder. WolfFang21
Put it on Hardcore mode. Increases the difficulty a fair amount. Look around for mods that edit how strong your companions are. Etc. There's a fair amount of ways to make the game harder. I will admit though, after you get used to everything, FNV can be a pretty easy game. Though, still fun. Shantih
Increased Wasteland Spaws and Monster Mod will make the game harder. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38623 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41361 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41682 Bear in mind that the game is not intended to be played with so many companions and that Very Hard makes your followers more powerful. I'm guessing they are doing all the killing for you. If you play without companions it should make things more challenging. Having three companions can only make the game very easy no matter what -especially if they can't get killed. On Hardcore followers stay dead so this will make the game more interesting. Monster Mod adds some tough foes and it works well with a World of Pain and Increased Wasteland Spawns (which can be set to increase enemies by a fair margin). You can also use a mod that reduces XP. I've made one that is compatible with anything: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37582 Also the problem you're having with creatures taking too many shots to go down is linked to Very Hard. You can try lowering the difficulty a bit so that it will be more "realistic" but increasing the number of creatures a lot for a change. Find out what is more challenging/interesting for you, facing one creature on Very Hard with followers or facing a horde of creatures solo on Hard. ;) Edited September 28, 2011 by Shantih
minngarm
I use the increased wasteland spawn, PN, a custom mod i made that removes companion magical ammo, so that I have to supply my ranged companions. and with the wastelands spawn set up fairly high I find running around with just 4 or 5 companions is hardly enough to get through most things. Also I keep them marked for death so they do not go unconcious.
Tahadar
Hardcore settings (very important), a single companion (just for pack mule - and it can't be Boone or Ed-e), no fancy OP moded weapons and no SPECIAL / duble perk exploits.Increased spawns, play anti NCR & anti Legion. Do Quary at level 10, Cottonwood Cove at 15, Deathclaw Promotory at 20 and Forlon Hope at 30.Then come back and tell us if the game is too easy. ModelV
Dont use companions :) I only use companion for quests other then that i ignore them. Disable cyberware Dont use bullet time or VATS Hardcore mode. Set DT minimum bleed to 1% or 100% which will either make it so you need to switch to a better weapon or use AP ammo or make you take a lot more damage your chose i prefer the former. Mcsalmon
Hey, Thanks for your responses. I will play the next playthrough on Hard, instead of Very Hard but increase spawns with IWS. Shooting a Glowing Ghoul 5 times in the head point-blank with a Riot Shotgun was stupid. I will also play on Hardcore with ONE companion, probably Willow (three was overkill and made you redundant) and I am going to use the Monster Mod by dogtown1 when his new release is out. I don't like the thought of having to resupply my companions with ammo constantly so will leave that... I might decrease my XP by 0.75. I think 25% slower is enough, 50% at most. I am not sure how anyone could not use VAT's the whole game, the shooting mechanics are not up to scratch.
ModelV
I only use VATS in a kind of twitch when im trying to fine the guy thats shooting at me. I dont even see the VATS hud i just tap it twice and it points me in the direction of an enemy. Like i said its a twitch i dont even do it on purpose.
