GalaxyFalcon
I recently got my friend into trying out Oblivion, but she ran into some issues where the menu interface was really laggy. After exiting the menu, the game seems to run fine and at normal framerates. She only has two mods installed (Ren's hair and Epic Elves). I'm not sure if these could be interfering in any way as I haven't had time to take a look at their requirements. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what could be causing interface lag? I've never had the menu lag at all before.
JohnBond007777
Hmm, strange, i'm not really sure what to do, but try leaving the menu open and scrolling through all the tabs, it might be a loading issue. EDIT: Does it lag in 3rd person, Epic Elves uses a lot of HD Textures for the player character, and that might be the cause. GalaxyFalcon
I tried scrolling through all the tabs and it continued to lag. The character model display also lags (when trying to turn in, idle animation, etc). I tried running around town and attacking guards and there didn't seem to be any major FPS drops in either first or 3rd person during combat with spells/animations and etc. The only thing I can think of currently is that perhaps the Epic Elf mod has such large textures that it could be lagging the menu. ziitch
My guess is that you've got a badly-optimized script running in Menu Mode, or scripts conflicting each other. It's rather hard to detect, but look through the mod descriptions and see if something is done while in menu mode.
