I did not mean that they literally had to create nukes... What I mean is that there have always been innovations, even in the "dark ages"... Also, you have to remember that the Catholic church purposely stopped some technological advancement to maintain control of the populace's minds. Also, it was not 1000 years long... and the term "dark ages" was invented by a poet to denote the mystery/lack of records and lack of real government at the time. Politicians had no government with which to control the people, so they joined the clergy.

There were however, many inventions made during this time period. Although there is not proper documentation of it all because record keeping wasn't done well during the time period. For the Romans it may have been a time of collapse... but for many tribal/nomadic folk it was a time of great advancement.

Humanity is defined by it's intelligence. We are constantly adapting and inventing to make life more convenient.

As was mentioned, not everyone can use magic... So why haven't those people began to invent ways to make their lives/jobs easier?

In Skyrim there are a lot of people (The Companions included) who burn wood indoors... Which would create CO2 and poison/kill in the inhabitants.

Scientifically, that drives me crazy. They could at least have some sort of fireplace that would vent the house properly :psyduck:
